“Great Family Activity or History Buff Activity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

In Duluth, in the Canal Park District, you will find the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center right next to the canal that allows the 1000 foot laker ships to enter the harbor. The Visitor Center is free and very child friendly with many hands on displays to amuse all ages of visitors. The visitor center broadcasts the arrival and departure times of the huge laker ships so you can watch the ships pass through the canal and under an aerial lift bridge. There are many great photo opportunities inside the visitor center as well as along the canal. Many children are enthralled by the bold sea gulls that frequent the grounds looking for popcorn or other human treats that visitors attempt to feed them. History buffs will enjoy the many artifacts that are displayed as well as the video presentations that describe the shipping history of the region.
