We in MN are spoiled because you get a feel of ocean so close to us-we have camped numerous time on Madeline IS with kids and always great-water to swim is beautiful at Big Bay
We LOVED this place. Tom's Burned Down is a MUST for a fun, laid back evening on a deck. FISH Tacos at the Beach Club are a MUST for the day after- outside and by the water. BEN'S CABIN on Madeline Island is SO reasonable and comfortable and PRIVATE for the ladies that wanted to get crazy as well as those that wanted to go to bed early. Beautiful, Friendly, innexpensive, active place to visit.
The Apostle Islands are part of Wisconsin, not Minnesota. located in Wisconsin's section of Lake Superior. You will need a Wisconsin fishing license to fish there. That said, it's a wonderful destination.

The islands are worth taking the trip. I loved Devil's Island so take the cruise. You will not be disappointed.
