Owner description: Watch seagulls soaring while you stroll around this popular spot, part of the revived Duluth waterfront. Nearby are a sculpture garden, jazz clubs, coffee shops, motels and restaurants. If you like ships, stand on the pier and watch huge boats and ships, some from around the world, come and go daily.

“Cute area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We took part in renting the bikes, walking the board walk, watching a ship come through (SUPER cool), as well as shopping the area. It's a fun area, parking is tough as any attraction can be, we try to make it more of a game to find a spot.

“What Duluth is Famous For!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Canal Park is a favorite spot for tourists that visit from all over the world. There several streets of shops, restaurants and hotels with the majestic aerial lift bridge as the centerpiece attraction. There are miles to stroll, skate or bike along Lake Superior's Lake Walk. Or, take a horse and carriage ride through the streets of Canal Park.

Boat excursions also leave from here. The two hour ride will take you under the lift bridge and out along the lakeshore where you will learn about the history of Duluth-then back under the bridge and a ride through the harbor where the history of shipping is discussed.

Another great place to visit is the Marine Museum adjacent to the lift bridge. Here, you can learn about the ships of the Great Lakes and view artifacts from years past. A viewing screen is available at the entrance that will post the times and names of the ships that will be coming and going in and out of the harbor that day. You can also find out the shipping schedule online at:

Whether you are planning a weekend stay or just visiting for the day, there is fun in and around Canal Park for the whole family!

“Never get tired”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We've been to Duluth a dozen times and can't leave town without visiting Canal Park. The area has been developed considerably since the first time we were there so it's easy to spend a few hours just hanging out.

“Something for Everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Canal Park is a must when visiting Duluth. There are many unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, an aquarium, a maritime museum, and activity center just for kids with games, laser tag, and a climbing wall by Vertical Endeavors. There's also a large Marcus Theater with an Omni Theater in case the weather turns bad.

“"Relaxation"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Canal Park is our favorite place to get away and relax. There are so many unique shops to visit and excellent places to eat. The lodging at Comfort Inn Suites is always the highlight of our visit. We always get a lakeside room and listen to the waves hitting the shore and watch the lift bridge operate as a big ship goes through the channel. It's also very refreshing to walk along the sidewalk lining Lake Superior. The fall colors were at their peak on this visit and it was a sight to behold!
