“Enjoy a walk around Canal Park and watch a ship come int”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Nothing like seeing an Ore ship pass by on it's way to a Steel Mill somewhere oft in the world. Enjoy crossing the bridge into Park Point and hitting the best sand beach in Minnesota (Water isn't always warm).

“Stop at Grandma's and oogle the bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

The bridge is old and grey and mystifying. The best view from afar is at Thompson Hill (rest area) but do not bother crossing it as there is nothing but a residential area on the other side. Eat lunch at Grandma's Saloon, tour the Marine Museum (it is free) and watch a barge pass under the bridge. Give those folks a big wave hello as they pass you buy but do not cross the bridge.

“Duluth History”

Make it to the lift bridge during your stay. It's always great for a photo op. I was once told by a friend that the lift bridge only goes up twice per year, so make sure you're there at the right times.

“The icon of Duluth, a veritable antique still in action”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Just behind Grandma's Saloon it is awesome to watch the lift of the bridge to allow freighters pass thru. You can watch it up close as it raises, or drive across when it is down and see it from the other side. If you dine on Grandma's upstairs patio, you have a great view while you drink or dine.
