“Fun place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Very cool to be there as a large ship goes through the canal and under the bridge. The museum is full of interesting exhibits and displays a schedule of the ships going through. You can also check http://duluthshippingnews.com/ for a schedule, webcams and much more. Call Boatwatchers Hotline, 24 hours a day at: (218) 722-6489 for the most up-to-date schedule.

It is incredible how quietly the bridge goes up (except for a warning bell) and how quietly a 1,000 foot, fully loaded ship is. That is until the ship sounds its horn and the bridge replies -- that gets your attention!

“Awesome as always.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

The Aerial Lift Bridge is a must see for any visit to Duluth. Make sure that you are down there when one of the big ships come in or go out. Bring your video camera. You won't want to miss it.

“Walk and drive the bridge!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

It's a unique experience to both walk and drive the Aerial Life Bridge. Make sure you visit the Naval Museum to find exact times for ships coming to port. The newspaper gives estimates but the museum has the details. They will announce the ships and their histories and where they're coming from. The sailors wave, it's a great experience! Be sure to get there at least 10 minutes before the ship comes as this is a crowded affair in the summer and the walls of the pier fill up quickly.

“A Must See!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

There is so much to do near the Aerial Lift Bridge and in Canal Park! There are a ton of fabulous restaurants, shops, and attractions here. Right next to the Lift Bridge is an interesting and informative Maritime Museum, which is free and open to the public. The Northern Waters Smokehaus, as seen on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, is located in the DeWitt-Seitz Building, along with other great restaurants such as the Amazing Grace Bakery/Cafe in the basement. You can frequently see enormous ships - some coming all the way from the Atlantic Ocean passing through Canal Park's two piers and under the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge. Live music abounds in many of these restaurants at night, and the famous Grandma's Bar & Saloon - sponsor of the world renowned Grandma's Marathon - has a bar that is popular with night life loving youth above the main restaurant. Find local artists works in one of the many galleries in the area. And when you're done, there are a variety of hotels right on The Loop where you can rest your head for the night.

“Absolute Marvel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Aerial Lift Bridge is fun to watch go up and down with the large vessels coming into the harbor. It really is a miraculous feat and so cool how it actually operates.
