“Everything I wanted in a room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014 via mobile

The room was great. No complaints about sound or anything! We loved the view of the lake from the bed. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise, 2 large ships and the sound of seagulls. Could not havecaskef for anything better. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful and attentive to all of our needs and we seemed to have several. You can rent dvd to play in the room. My husband had to hook up the player but that was minor. Our two complaints is that the carpet was horrendous in our room. And the check-in and out times. They are the same as any other hotel but we enjoyed our room and view so much we would have liked to enjoy it longer.

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years for business and for family vacations. This time I spent a long weekend with my two boys and parents. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo on the first floor.

Pro's-
Good sized rooms
modern decor
great view from all the rooms
staff was friendly and helpful
New bedding, much better than the bedspread they had before
free underground parking in great for winter or when a storm rolls through
free bikes for guest use

Con's-
Carpet was stained
Picture window was leaking when it rained and the staff seemed to know about this issue
The whole room could use some TLC. For example the bathroom door had some missing veneer on the side, the upholstery on the lounge chair was worn on the arms, upholstered seats on the dining chairs were stained, and on one dining chair the back spindle was broke
no clock in the bedroom
stairs down to lake shore where broke and had been for some time
Sleeper sofa could use a new mattress

I know that the hotel is going though a room update and I hope some of these issues will be address. I do enjoy staying here, but this time I left feeling as though it needs some attention. When paying over $300.00 per night you do not expect these issues.

Room Tip: ask for a remodeled room. If traveling with kids who want to run in and out to lake shore, ask for f...

This hotel is about a mile down from the main street area in town with all the restaurants and shopping. They offer free bike rentals which is great to take on the path down by the lake.

Pro's: big rooms, nice bathrooms, lots of space, fireplace, good view and balcony, decent indoor pool.

Cons: carpet is stained and dirty looking, our air conditioner was broken and the room was so cold, needed more pillows on the bed.

Overall, good stay but things could have been better.

We stayed in a condo overlooking Lake Superior. It was beautifully furnished with a huge window to view the ships coming into the harbor. The condo was furnished with a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, deck, full sized kitchen with microwave, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator with an ice maker, and two flat screen tvs. It was located on the lake walk and they had bikes/helmets to use. Also had exercise room, hot tub and indoor pool. Free s'mores out by the fire pit each night.

Room Tip: Make sure and reserve the room with the bedroom to the back of the hotel. The room next to ours had...

A very nice resort/hotel to stay at in Duluth. Nice room and amenities. Great view of the lake and lake traffic. Very calming. Short distance to downtown. Helpful staff in every way. We were there for only one day, but would return if we came back to Duluth. Make reservations without any hesitation,

We've stayed here multiple times over the years and never have been disappointed. It's beautiful to be right on the water and is a peaceful distance from busy canal park. Always has been well kept up and clean. Love the evening bonfire and smores, dvd library and free bike rentals! Kids enjoy the pool and hot tub. Your basic breakfast with cereal, yogurt, fruits, waffles, pastries etc Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

My wife and I have now stayed at all of the properties that Odessey Resorts offers. They have some very nice properties, and they do a good job of running them. That said, this was our first time at Beacon Pointe. We think the location is great. Less congestion, more quiet, and a nice view of the lift bridge and the harbor lights. They currently offer free use of some nice bicycles, with helmet and lock, so you can bike to Canal Park, if you like, as it is right off the lakewalk trail.
They also have free DVD's for use and smore kits for a gas fired, fire pit. They also have free parking, outside or, underground, below the building.
Now, the rough around the edge part ! The 3 level condo type units, are divided into 3 units. There are many different choices. Some with full kitchens, 1 , 2, and 3 bedrooms, some without, and some with an oversized Jacuzzi tub. Some king size, some queen. The staff can not possibly know what unit is what. We looked at several units and there was one thing that was common. All the carpet was stained, or burned in places. We had a full kitchen, but only had 3 spoons and a few forks. Bed was decent but, the headboard made the bed squeak, every time you moved ! Extra bedding did not smell clean.
