I was talking with my kids (one a first year teacher who will be teaching summer school, the second in college in CA and taking summer school) about this summer, for it seems complicated to try to go back this year to Fair Hills, and they both said yes, they want to juggle their schedules if at all possible to go back. For my family, it's 22 years straight, and a summer week at Fair Hills has become a part of life they count on and value highly. And I agree since I've been taking them..
I was curious to see what others who are looking for a summer vacation place in the Upper Midwest and hear about Fair Hills would see on travel sites about Fair Hills. I checked this site and ended up deciding to write a review reflecting our experiences. Fair Hills is a great place for a family vacation. It's family owned and run, with a personal touch. Friendly, helpful staff and guests--it's a cheery place. We are busy all week, and the time really flies. We have gone other places where there are kitchen facilities, and found we spent a lot of our time shopping for groceries, cooking, and cleaning up. Who wants to do that--it's work, not vacation. At FH, we get away and relax, with 3 hearty meals a day with plenty of choices, and maid service.
When the kids were younger, they could take off after each meal with their friends and go play, and we didn't worry about them, for the resort is self-contained and safe. They learned to play golf and tennis at FH, to kayak, to water ski, and to sail. Guests stay in cabins, without TVs (which is fine for us since there are organized activities morning, afternoon, and evening for kids and adults). And since we have come back the same week of the summer every year, we see mostly the same people every year--it's a community reunion.
If someone wants to know what we really think, all they have to know is that we have come back every year for 22 years, and are looking forward to our week there this summer. We highly recommend Fair Hills.
