“Can't say enough great things about this family resort!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We have stayed at this resort five times now and every time we leave the kids can't wait to get back!! The food was amazing, the staff was super friendly, and even though we stayed there for a week we ran out of time to do all the activities offered! I have three kids and there are things to do that interest all age levels. As a mom and dad we REALLY appreciated the AM and PM organized and supervised youth activities for the kids that let us have kid-free time! My daughter learned how to water-ski the first day she took lessons and two days later she was on a wakeboard! The kids all found friends to hang out with and even write to them throughout the school year. We love how this resort puts family first. There is a talent show for the kids, a staff show, dance, plenty of water toys (we kayaked, paddle boated, sailed almost every day!) We played tennis every day and all of us even took private tennis lessons. The snack bar was our kid's favorite pastime with shakes being their favorite item on the menu. Ask the cook to make a pancake in the shape of an ice skate, a guitar, and a drum set? They will do it! Our picky eaters had plenty to choose from and always left with full bellies. My husband and I also took advantage of the 3 mile run/walk every AM with their resort pontoon taking us back to the resort along with coffee (and yummy sticky buns on Saturday.) We each got a free shirt to prove it! One of my favorite parts is in each cabin there is a journal where each family can write about their stay. I loved reading all the entries and even got teary-eyed. There were families that had taken trips to Jamaica, Aspen, England and they said the only place they have been to that their whole family wanted to go back to was FAIR HILLS!!! I'm sure they hear this all the time but the BEST way to describe this resort is it's the closest thing to the resort Dirty Dancing as it comes. LOVE, LOVE , LOVE it!!!!

Our family has been coming to Fair Hills for almost 40 years. I came as a child and have loved introducing it to my wife and our children. If you need luxury accommodations and 5 star cuisine, this isn't your place - and we don't want you. Cabins are clean and food is good (and plenty of it) but this is about unplugging for a week with extremely friendly people - staff and guests - and feeling like you've gone back in time 50+ years. Nobody locks anything; you don't even get a key to your cabin upon check in. They have the perfect golf for beginners as well as people who know what a handicap is. The pool is awesome for a quick dip to cool off. The lake is great swimming, boating, fishing, skiing, tubing, and relaxing. Music happens from staff and guests every day! Kids love their independence with free reign of the entire resort and parents love it too! Most families agree that their kids who have experienced Fair Hills and Disney will choose Fair Hills for their preferred vacation - but they're completely different. If you want serious quality time with your family and aren't a vacation snob, come join us!

Room Tip: You'll probably have to take what you get, because most cabins are used annually by returning gu...

Our group was here for an annual dinner get together. We had our dinner on their HUGE Dinner boat. They take you out for a cruise on the lake. The food was EXCELLENT and hot. Grilled right on the boat. We would definitely return for a dinner cruise. If you are looking for a rustic resort and enjoy a week at the lake Fair Hills is a great place for the family too.

We spent a week at Fair Hills with our two children 13 and 11. It is very much a family camp with numerous activities. The cabins are very basic but comfortable: we spent very little time in ours. Although we had a great location right on the lake with a nice deck. It was great to hear the waves each night as you fell asleep. The lake was warm and clean and the center of most activity- at least for us. There is also a nice pool and hot tub. The lobby has pool, ping pong, games for the kids- and adults, as well as an ice cream and snack shop. Many activities on the lake, sailing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, jumping from the tower, aquacycles. Both of our kids signed up and learned to water ski. We also rented a boat for a morning and toured the lake and went tubing. Kids activities are varied and fun, kickball, boat trips, capture the flag, banana boat rides, teen pizza night. Our kids made friends right away and would love to return next year. The food was of good quality and variety. We had a wonderful waitress from Ukraine, Olga she was so sweet and accommodating. The rang a bell for meals and activities. There were also family activities, closest to the pin contest, ice cream social, giant water slide, bingo, talent show and campfire. We also enjoyed playing tennis, shuffleboard and basketball. The resort allows you to be as active as you would like or just kick back and relax- the perfect combination of activity...no pressure to participate for kids or adults if you choose not to. We met many nice families during our stay. If you are looking for a family friendly, low key, casual, old fashion summer vacation/camp, this is a great place to go!

Room Tip: If available request a cabin on the lake. If you prefer to be away from the activity you may prefer...

Fair Hills Resort exceeded all of our expectations. We were looking for a true getaway that would allow us to enjoy our family and get a real break from our hectic busy lives. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and were treated like old friends. We have kids that range from 2-17 and each of them had plenty of things to do and quickly made friends with fellow guests. Almost everything is included in the rate (except motorized things) so they were endless things to do and no one complained about being bored all week. It's a wonderful relaxing place. The staff is so friendly and accommodating to any request and they surprised me constantly though the week. I think they've thought of everything here! They even have a bell to ring for meals and activities and allow the children to sign up to have their chance to ring it. Very nostalgic and wonderful place. And none of us wanted to leave.

The food served is homey and the choices are great. The cook will make pancakes in any shape and out kids challenged that by requesting a spider on a web and a peacock... and the cook delivered both! There are so many quaint and sweet things that happen through the week, I am not sure I would even want to spoil it by telling about them here. But trust me when I say that your week at Fair Hills will feel like a month and you will not want to leave. There is a reason that families return year after year. 2013 was our first time at Fair Hills and we made reservations for the next year before we checked out. Our kids have not stopped talking about it and we already miss it.

Room Tip: The cost may seem expensive, but once you see the activities and meals you will realize it's a b...

Here, you are right ON the Lake - just as you are at the Restaurant, too. You cannot beat this location, seriously. Impressive facility all around. Great staff and customer service, we thought. Big, super clean room and a nice pool setup, too. One of the great Lake locations in MN and Fair Hills has the best setup in DL region. Lots to do here and I wish I had not been on a business trip so I could have done more while there. We will return late summer and look forward to another stay here.

Friendly staff welcomed us for our boys' golf weekend getaway. We did get upgraded to the Ranch House (you can hear waves crashing in on the lake shore from your room) since it was a slow part of the year (mid-May) which was a great fit. The Play & Stay Package was fairly priced, included breakfast (chock-full of gooey caramel rolls, fruit, fried eggs and ham) and a golf course lunch. Great golf course, clean accommodations, excellent breakfast service & food from smiley cooks; these people know how others want to be treated while on vacation and they do it right.
Aside from an excellent golf getaway, this would be a great place to bring the kids for an activities filled weekend of fun. Location is ideal for water activities, excellent food and being around other kids -- ideal for family reunions!
Thanks for an awesome getaway!
