If you are in Detroit Lakes MN, this is the place to stay!!! I would recomend this place to anyone. My only regret is that I didn't get to enjoy their spa services. Hopefully I can next time!

We stayed just one night, but had a wonderful quiet time. The staff were very nice. My only suggestion is to make sure you have a front facing room as the trains at night did not bother us at all. It would be nice if they had a restaurant right in the hotel. But the continental breakfast was really good.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding our staff & complimentary full hot breakfast during your stay. It’s gratifying to know that our team’s dedication to providing a great experience was noticed & appreciated. It’s also wonderful to hear you enjoyed a quiet stay. The recent implementation of a “whistle free zone” for trains passing thru DL has made a big difference. No worries for future guests; ALL of our rooms are lakefront, “front facing”, away from the railroad tracks. We look forward welcoming you back again sometime!

This was an amazing place to stay en-route to northern minnesota. It has been beautifully designed and our room was extremely comfortable and well thought out. The beds were high end and oh so comfy and the bathroom was great with a big walk-in shower. We loved the use logs in the bathroom, giving it that 'woodsy feel'.

The rooms face out onto Detroit Lake itself and afford fantastic sunsets. We ate at the Fireside Restaurant which is within walking distance and were treated to a fantastic sunset as we ate!!

Highly recommend this hotel.

A year ago we were fortunate enough to have our wedding reception at The Lodge on a beautiful September day, and recently just returned to celebrate our one year anniversary. Each time we have been there, we have been beyond impressed with the little touches and the very friendly staff. From the ice water in the lobby infused with fresh fruit to the "clean" remotes they now have in the rooms.

When there for our wedding weekend, needless to say we were pre-occupied with many other things and kept saying how much we wished we had more down time to really enjoy the hotel. We got so many raves from our friends and family that were there from all over the country and were so happy that this was the place we choose for our Wedding. This year we were able to get back and really enjoy the place ourselves. Our anniversary was so relaxing, once we checked in, we didn't want to leave and rather than going somewhere else for dinner, just stepped downstairs to Lola's D's for a light meal while sitting in the rocking chairs overlooking the lake.

The Lodge is an intimate hotel, if you are looking for a large northern MN resort with constant buzz and activity, this isn't the place. But, they do have kayaks and paddleboats free for guest use. And two beautiful fire pits set off to the side, with plenty of firewood. We actually used those to entertain family after our grooms dinner. They are set back enough so they don't bother the other guest rooms. They also have boat slips to use, so you can dock your boat right at the hotel. For those that have commented on the trains, yes, there are in fact train tracks and a busy highway on the other side of the hotel, but you don't see them from the grounds. AND, many will be happy to know that the city has apparently changed their law, so NO MORE TRAIN WHISTLE!

The Spa Within is just an added bonus to the features of this place. Myself and all of my bridesmaids had services done the day before the wedding and they were just as impressive. It was the best pedicure I've ever had, and lasted the longer than any other I've had. Honestly, it was still perfect (no chips) after a week on the beach for our honeymoon!

In a nutshell for me, it really was one of the most relaxing hotel stays I've ever had. They have luxury without being pretentious. HIGHLY recommended for a getaway, whether it's two of you or a large group. We can't wait until our next trip back there.

We were looking for a getaway for our daughter's 13th birthday that would offer her a most memorable experience. Our criteria was for her to experience becoming a teen by sharing with her the joys of spa pampering, getting her ears pierced, enjoying finer dining, the love of her parents and all in a new place that our family had never been before. We simply found exactly what we were looking for at The Lodge on Lake Detroit Hotel & Spa. Not to forget the other local establishments that they referred us to were very amazing also!!

From the very first moment that we contacted this hotel to the very last moment we departed the customer service was completely & utterly there!!! The attention to each & every detail was purely amazing along with 'each & every service' was performed with a smile & care!!! The owners of this establishment can be very proud that they have simply put together a place where our family has 'never expereinced' the quality of style, service & value from coast to coast to even include Sanibel/Captiva FL.

They can be guaranteed that we will be back again & again. Along with recognizing their other family owned hotels, as again we were utterly amazed by their product/service & attention to every detail in providing their guests the high quality that they have!! Our daughter had the memorable experiencee that we were so hoping... so Mission Accomplished The Lodge on Lake Detroit ~ Thank You for the Memories!!!

Simply Amazing w/a Excellent Rating from our family to theirs!!

Caution if you stay at The Lodge. It is a very nice property, but it has a very small outdoor public area along the lake. There is a very small beach area with only 13 chairs. There is also a grassy area with picnic tables and several fire pits. We came for a weekend, and had only one full day at The Lodge -- a Saturday. We were VERY disappointed to find upon our arrival that the public area on the lake would be closed for a wedding -- the sign said from 2:30-5:30. However, the set-up actually began around 10:00am, and at noon they were removing the beach chairs. No sooner had the afternoon wedding ended than they were preparing for an evening wedding at sunset. The sunsets are beautiful there and something The Lodge advertises, but once again the lake area was being used for a wedding. No one told us about the weddings when we made our reservations, and we would not have spent almost $500 on a weekend getaway where we were so limited in using the public areas. Since our experience, we have learned that The Lodge is known as a wedding destination -- something we didn't know. We are posting this information so others are aware of this and not disappointed in their visit.

Thank you for your recent stay at The Lodge! We appreciate you taking the time to share feedback about your stay. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to some of our lakefront area being used by other hotel guests for a wedding ceremony. The Lodge hosted 4 weddings this past year; two of which were on Saturday during your stay (one involved only 20ppl for 25 min. @ 8:30pm sunset), so we’re not a busy wedding destination all the time. The Lodge is situated along 550 ft of lakeshore & is set back 150 ft from the lake. The sandy beach & swim area is 150’ wide. This is where one wedding set up chairs extending back from the beach, which required just that area to be closed from 2:30-5:30. The beach chaise lounges were removed at 2:30, not Noon, and the wedding chairs were removed from the lawn promptly at 5:20. You and other hotel guests were welcomed to and had complete access to enjoy all the remaining green space, kayaks, paddleboats, boat slips, firepits, bbq’s, picnic tables at all times. In fact, many guests enjoyed the lawn during the ceremony; some were observed playing football & sunning themselves. We do apologize, however, if other guests wedding ceremonies caused your getaway to not meet your expectations. We sincerely hope you will give The Lodge another opportunity to provide a better experience. If choosing a date that does not involve an outdoor wedding is important to you, please just ask when placing your next reservation. We’re confident our Guest Experience team can assist you in finding a time when you can enjoy a getaway that meets your expectations and needs.

I was just married there on the beach with my family and friends. The staff bent over backwards to make sure everything was just right. The hotel is gorgeous and very comfortable. I couldn't have asked for anything better for my big day. Thank you Lodge on Lake Detroit! We'll be back!
