I read the reviews from trip advisor before I chose Madden's to host our family reunion so I feel I need to comment. My immediate family stayed last Labor Day weekend to check it out and we were convinced it was the place for us. We had our family reunion last weekend and it was fabulous. We had family attend from CA to NY and we are the only family from MN. Madden's showed all that is wonderful about Minnesota. Sandi got us started with our rooms (The Madden Lodge area) and Sharon took over as our reunion planner. The service was exceptional from start to finish. We had ages 2 to 80 attend and there was something for everyone to do. Our accommodations were cabins, duplex cottages and rooms in The Lodge. Everyone was more than happy with their housing and the word "swanky" was even mentioned. The food was terrific (don't lose your chef). Walleye was a first for many! So nice for everyone to choose off the menu. The dining service staff was so helpful and especially for the children. The breakfast buffet was a thrill for many as there are so many choices. Lunches were on the patio watching our group putt out on 18 of the Pine East course, and at Perfecto Pizza. Both are excellent. The marina staff kept us busy with various watercraft and were so helpful in getting us out on a pontoon ride. Also, when we needed little children's life jackets at the beach they were more than happy to bring them down personally. Again, wonderful service and I love that everything is provided. The Tennis and Croquet Club folks helped us with our 1st ever Lawn Bowling tournament - such fun! We swam, ate s'mores at the bonfire, and played bingo too! We really ran out of time to experience everything. Most importantly Madden's provided our family a wonderful experience to be together with gathering spots to catch up and chat. Not one person ever left the property for other activities - a first at our reunions. We have our reunions every three years and usually we go east coast/west coast and never at the same venue. I had suggested we meet in the middle (Madden's) and everyone agreed after this weekend it would be great to return!!! They all loved it (and we can be an opinionated crowd). I am going through Madden's withdrawal right now. Thank you! P.S. Our little grand daughter ended up having an ear infection and the Lodge front desk was so helpful to guide her family to Urgent Care and the pharmacy. Their thoughtfulness continued asking how she was doing throughout our stay.
