“Beautiful resort even for the non-golfer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

The grounds, gardens, buildings, staff, restaurants are all top shelf. You can relax and read a book or be as active and busy as you want. This really would be a great place for families as they seem to have a lot for kids to do. The food at The Classic is outstanding. Every employee we dealt with or just walked past was very friendly and pleasant. I think the staff is a level above many hotels/resorts. Am looking forward to going back in the fall.

The Classic Trip Up North. We just came home tonight. It is so nice to set your own pace. Relax and enjoy or play hard. The golf course was fantastic & we saw all the fantastic results of their hard work in keeping this resort looking great.
Gull Lake is right there for all kinds of different water activities. Also they have Indoor swimming & dining, @ multiple locations. There is even a nice little coffee& ice cream parlor shop.
The employees we met were all very nice & helpful.

Madden's is a classic "up north" resort with beautifully landscaped grounds, comfortable meeting rooms, and a variety of lodging options. Our barbecue and banquet dinners were generous and delicious, and the wait staff was ever-present and eager to please. The hotel room we were originally given was small, ground level, with golfers right outside the balcony door. When I inquired at the front desk if there might be a lake view room available "in our same room category," staff members were friendly and accommodating. The room we were given was large with a balcony facing the lake, and had (surprise!) two bathrooms. Because of our conference, we didn't have the opportunity to participate in the wide variety of activities that are available, but it appeared that if you had lots of free time, you would not run out of things to do. I would be very happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Recommend room 2205 in the main hotel building.

My "better 2/3's" and I go to Madden's several times per year (for many years) and enjoy the facilities, the staff, the good food, and great golf. We usually do a three day package in both Spring and Fall and a few times in between. If you can't find something to do at Madden's then you have a problem and should probably stay home.

My Wife and I and family have been going to Madden's for thirty years now. Three generations! We have always used the American Plan which is in July. Everything is included. All the golfing with three courses to choose from. Tennis, lawn bowling, croquet, shuffelboard, and at the marina, sailboating, canoeing, paddleboats and more. There also a daycare program for the kids which is included in the plan.Theres many choices of cabins to suit every size of family that I would rate as five stars. Then theres the meals. Breakfast buffet or order off the menu with this huge fruit bar everyday. Dinner time can only be rated as a five star. Different choices every meal. There is also special activities available scheduled in addition for day time and evenings if you want to do something different from all the choices listed above. I can't forget the Monday evening Madden's cocktail party inwhich everyone is invited. You meet everyone that stays there at Madden's that week, plus there is games for the kids too. To sum it all up, it's just a great place to relax have fun, relax and sit on the deck or porch at your cabin and listen to the loon's on the lake and forget the stress at home for the week or how many days or weeks you plan to stay.

We come here every year and have done so for the past 14 years. This year we already have reservations and it will be 15! Before that, my parents came with 4-5 other couples every year to golf and relax.

Madden's has EVERYTHING for every age, the staff is from all over the world, and they're so accommodating to whatever we need. Our little ones love going to "Adventure Cove" while we golf, and they join us later for lunch. The teens go horseback riding and use all the watercraft Madden's has. We all swim and play together, and look forward to the cocktail party every year (trust me, it's good). The kids get lots of Shirley Temples and we get our adult beverages. This year for Thanksgiving, the thing my niece Anna was most grateful for was Madden's. That was cool.
