“Really good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Nice selection on the dinner menu. We did great. Caprese Flatbread was better than our favorite in the Twin Cities. Shrimp and scallop over rice was outstanding. Disappointed in their "specialty" walley. It wasn't the best as they boast. All in all a very good experience. Those who were dining looked very happy. Upscale for the region and worth it.

“Great food if that's all you care about when you dine out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Iven's has great food, no argument. It's nice to eat equally well when you dine out as when you are gourmet-cooking at home, plus you don't have to do the dishes. BUT if you don't like having a table by the toilets; having all the toilet-bound people running into your chair because there isn't enough space to actually get to the toilet unimpeded; and having surley wait staff who refuse to move you although there are other available tables--then stay away!!!

“Great Food, Beautiful Views, Outstanding Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The title says it all. If you're wanting to kick it up a notch for dinner in Brainerd, Iven's is the place to go. We had spent 6 days with friends on Pelican Lake and for a farewell dinner our host recommended Iven's. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed beautiful lake views while we enjoyed an excellent meal that would rival the finer establishments in Houston. We had the Surf and Turf and Double Lamb Chops - both were cooked to perfection. The wine list was very extensive and the wait staff very attentive. The best of all? The next day at the Minneapolis airport my husband discovered he had left his credit card at the restaurant. A phone call solved it all. Michael promised he would mail it to us and two days later it arrived in the mail, neatly disguised. Great folks - friendly and extremely honest.

“The best in Brainerd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Iven's is a place where you can dine in elegance, with a lake view, on delicious and creative dishes as well as the more traditional, at a surprisingly reasonable price. Or, you can hit the bar at Happy Hour - 5:00 - 7:00, and dine on half price appetizers and bargain drinks; same great food, same lake view, at an incredibly reasonable price!
Iven's has a wine list that would do credit to any fine restaurant in a major city, with prices ranging from downright cheap to stratospheric. Try the house red - Menage a Trois, excellent value. For appies in the bar you can't go wrong with the blue crab dip and the pot roast sliders. Fantastic!

“Try It Because of the Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Just recently returned from the area (September 2012) on our annual trip up north and have now been to Iven's three times. We go once per our annual trip. The only reason we go is because of the food. If food was the only rating - then I would rate it excellent. I would have rated it good when including the service and ambience. However, I pulled it down another notch due to the owner's behavior. After reading the other reviews, I could not agree more with the comments about the owner's attitude. But I would also add that he is CONSISTENTLY rude. I watched him first hand with other diners. He actually enjoys putting people off. I can see why some prospective diners walked out. The dining views are not that great - yes, there is water but it is nothing special. The patio looks over the parking lot. The waitstaff is attentive and on their mark. But the food .... hats off to the chefs. From the appetizers, soups and salads to your entree -- It is for the food as to why you want to try Iven's. Just try to avoid the owner and you will enjoy your meal. I rated the service as excellent because I was thinking of the waitstaff and excluding the owner.
