“Golf package was quite nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

Food was outstanding and both golf courses were beautiful and challenging. The resort is large and full of families with lots of kids. If you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway this is NOT the place. Lodge is old and rooms are not very updated. Beds were comfortable and they were clean but had a musty smell in room. The marine had plenty of activities and watercraft available.

We have been to Cragun's many times and have always found everyone to be very pleasant and the place to be kept in such good condition. We had the opportunity to go this last weekend through one of their package programs. Unfortunately my husband got sick and we needed to leave a day early. I had expected to pay for the package even though we had to leave early. Marianne at the front desk told me that due to the situation they would not charge me for the night, even though it was a package program, because of the situation. She told me that they are a family place and when one of their customer's families isn't feeling well they take care of them. I was pleasantly surprised. We know we'll go back and tell others.

Room Tip: Our room faced the lake and it was awesome.

We recently had a Business Meeting at Cragun's followed by a Family weekend. This resort is a bit older and very spread out; however, that is one of the things we loved about it. Several people in our Group commented that we felt like we were in the movie "Dirty Dancing"... and I think you can find every activity but! The free Par 3 golf course is excellent and perfect for kids and adults alike. The Legacy Course is beautiful!!!
The Hungry Gull Restaurant meals were excellent as well as the breakfasts in the Lakeside Lounge. The long stretch of beach, with bonfire pits scattered all the way down the sand, made for a great evening of relaxation..... marshmellows and sticks were provided every evening!
The Marina was very helpful and we rented both a fishing boat and a Pontoon.
The staff at this resort makes up for the age of the property.... they are fun, attentive and know how to make you feel at home. I would certainly recommend this property for your next Company event or Family get-to-gether.

Our group of 8 adults and 6 kids (9 months-12 years) just had a great weekend at Craguns. We swam in the outdoor pool, had a very good meal at the Hungry Gull, played bingo, the men played 18 holes of free golf on Craguns par 3 course (only paying for carts) while the women and kids spent the day at the beach, went canoeing (free), went on a horse drawn trolley ride (free), watched a movie and had marshmellows (bring your own graham crackers and chocolate) on the beach, had a great (free) buffet breakfast Sunday morning, went shopping just up the road in Nisswa, went on a pontoon ride around the bay (free), had a fantastic (free) dinner buffet Sunday night including beer and wine, went swimming in the indoor pool 4-5 times, and the kids each did a wooden sticks bowl craft and painted vase craft. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Everything mentioned above was done arriving noon Friday leaving early Monday morning. Needless to say you won't be bored. Food was good to great everywhere around the resort. Poolside rooms were perfect for us as they were very close to the things we like best....indoor pool, marina, front desk area, snack bar and open seating/sun deck. Rooms are not fancy, but as you can read above when all you are doing is sleeping and changing yours clothes in them "who cares". We will be back for many years to come. Great family vacation destination.

Room Tip: If you are going for the weekend stay until Monday for a free breakfast buffet and free dinner buffe...

We stayed two nights on a promotional getaway. The facility is old, very large and extremely over priced. There were stairs everywhere we wanted to go. Where we could find elevators (they are very well hidden) they only served a small section of the resort. The restaurants and public areas were difficult to find. Nothing was very well marked. The room had a musty odor so, even though the weather was cool, we had to keep the air conditioner running. We ate in two of the restaurants. The food was OK but the service was spotty. The staff was very friendly. They all kept asking if we were having an enjoyable time. We weren't but it wasn't their fault.

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues, be sure to tell them when you make reservations. Very few rooms are ha...

My Maryland daughter and two sons (ages 13 and 16) have been coming with me to Craguns for six or seven years. It has always been a wonderful time. We take a queen size double room with a view of gorgeous Gull Lake and take the meal plan. Craguns guests are babies through really seniors. The atmosphere is wholesome and fun with plenty to do for everyone. The marina is superbly run by a great safety fun-conscious staff. Dress is casual. Our walleye at the Hungry Gull restaurant was delicious. Check- in check- out was smooth and effortless. They consistently treat us like family. It's a great Minnesota lake experience. Next year for sure!! We stay two and a half days mid-week.

Room Tip: Our room was 359 with a balcony and a beautiful view of Gull Lake.

We recently went to Cragun's for a family reunion. After traveling from Michigan, we arrived at the resort around 11:30am. It was made very clear to us that our room was not ready and would not be ready until the check in time of 5pm. After hearing the news, it was up to me to ask the front desk attendant what recommendations she had for our family of four to do until the room would be ready. The resort has a lot to offer. It has a nice lake feel. But in a lot of ways, it needs a little more TLC. Service was hit or miss. Some of the staff made you feel like a special guest. Others made you feel like you were a bother. We had a very poor experience trying to book a carriage ride for our reunion attendees and were left standing outside without a ride and were told the carriage driver left to go home for the night.
