“Love this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

I come up to MN from Chicago 3-4 times a year and always stay in this hotel, even when my business dealings are in St. Paul. It is vey clean and the staff is always nice. It is very close to the interstate for travel and to the mall, to keep yourself busy and catch some dinner. Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for both business and pleasure in the MSP-STP area.

This hotel was one of the host hotels for the recent US Pond Hockey Championships. Upon arrival the enitre staff were all adorned with hockey jersey's from NHL and local hockey teams. They were ttruely excited to have the event participants on thier premises. They provided a well controlled, scheduled, shuttle service from the hotel to the event site. The on site restaraunt served good food, including a buffet style breakfast. Any concerns were addressed quickly and efficiently. It was great to see a facility that was welcoming to this large crowd of athletes, that at times can become slightly rowdy. They provided a clean, comfortable environment and great place to unwind after being out on a frozen lake, in sub-freezing, or sub-zero weather. Thanks to all of the staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the Bloomington/Minneapolis area. Also the Mall of America is only a 5 minutes shuttle ride away.

We were excited to find our room (room 413) had a private balcony, even though we knew we wouldn't use it in 14 degree weather! HOWEVER, we were disappointed that the noise from the interstate could be heard all night long! It took me awhile to fall asleep. The only other complaint I had of this room was that the bathtub was old or something so that the floor of the tub was no longer flat but sunk in the middle which made it awkward for standing in it. One foot was higher than the other and I kept having to readjust my stance. Maybe it was a water saving technique to encourage me to get out quicker? :)

Other than those two items, we were generally satisfied with the decor and cleanliness of the room. We thought the hotel was nice, modern, and clean, too. We ordered chicken and wild rice soup from the restaurant and took it to our room to eat for dinner. It was great !

We were happy to see how close the hotel was to the Mall of America, too! We ran over there after dinner for about an hour before it closed, then in the morning ate breakfast at Ikea with my cousins who met us there.

My husband made reservations online and chose this hotel because they had a special rate, so the price was right!

Overall, the place was nice and we would stay here again, but not in room 413 or another room that faces the freeway!

Room Tip: Don't reserve a room that faces the freeway, but do ask for a balcony in nice weather.

Stayed 2 nights, family in town for a sporting event and MoA visit. Stay was average, only chose the hotel because the Springhill and Fairfield were booked. The first night a car alarm went off for 30-45 minutes at around 4am. I called the front desk about 10 min in to inquire what they were doing about the situation. I was informed that the police were called, and that they would arrive within 15 minutes. 20+minutes later -nothing. I do understand that this was not the hotels fault because they do not take vehicle license plates when you check in, so they had no way to track who the vehicle belonged to. But I was not pleased that they said the police would come and no one ever showed up. Would stay again, but only as a last resort and with rewards free nights.

We have stayed in this hotel a number of times while visiting family in Minneapolis. It is always clean and the rooms are well maintained. Nothing really special about the hotel, and rooms are not fancy, but it is a very nice, and very clean and comfortable, place to stay. Beds are very comfortable as well. Staff is friendly, efficient, and gives a lot of attention to detail and comfort. Nice looking pool, althought we did not use it. The hotel is just off the 494 Freeway, and very convenient to the Mall of America. A number of restaurants are very close. The buffet breakfast (although not free) is excellent. All in all a very nice place to stay.

The wife and i decided to use some passes and fly to Edmonton, Canada to check out the biggest mall in north america. However, our connection in Minneapolis was oversold so we were stranded there instead. Late at night, tired and grumpy I decided not to take the time or risk sending credit card information over the airports free wifi. So i pulled up hotels.com and scoured hotels in the area of the Mall of America, the second largest mall in America.

Finding a price of $99 and checking for good reviews with my tripadvisor app, i chose this hotel, the Courtyard By Marriott Bloomington.

Location- Less than two minutes from the Mall of America. On a nice day you can easily walk to the mall. It is near some small office buildings ands others htels including a Residence Inn that did not get ratings as good as the Courtyard. The gentleman behind the counter when we checked in was very nice and friendly. We explained that this was not our destination city and he made some great suggestions abut what to see, since we were there. Not a lot of restaurants near the hotel. But there are some on the other side of the highway and behind the mall like IHOP, TGI Fridays and such.

Lobby-was not very large, but it was very appealing in color and design. The breakfast area was just off the lobby. I usually avoid hotel breakfast bars, but we did not want to waste time. The breakfast was about $11 and it was surprisingly good and hot. Waffles, omelets were made to order and even french toast. The other foods were hot and not dried out like you find at some hotel restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the orange juice, it tasted like the cheap kind which really doesn't taste like a real orange.

Room-The rooms was on the small side, you could not squeeze a family of four in there. However, i really like the way that it was dedicated with the reddish wallpaper and really nice blinds. It was room 311. It was cold when we first checked in, but after eating at TGIF, the heater had toasted it up very nicely.

Bathroom- It too was a little small, but you could move around well enough. I have no complaints with it.

Bed-We were too tired to tell you if it was plush or not. But i know i slept well in it.

WIFI-it is free and it fine for surfing. They do have a higher speed that you can buy, if you want to stream. My tablet connected with no problem.

Summary-Although i had no time to really research the hotel before hand in depth, we were very happy with it for rescuing us from a very frustrating trip. For its location, it's quality, the nice staff, the good breakfast bar, and a good price, well it was pretty good.

Everything about our stay at this hotel was excellent but the shuttle service to and from the Mall and airport and the staff that run it are certainly worth a special mention. They were extremely kind and helpful. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
