“Not enough outlets in the rooms, refrigerator froze everything.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I got in and some of the lights did not work. Figured out the plugs were pulled out of the sockets. I thought that was odd. Then I tried to recharge my computer and other stuff. There is I think one extra outlet, this is it. That is why the plugs are pulled out from the lamps. People pull them out to use the outlets. Refrigerator froze everything.

Rooms were quiet, clean, and the help was polite and helpful. Morning breakfast was average.

I stay at choice hotels (Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn) frequently and see a wide range of hotel conditions. Overall, they are a good deal for the dollar. This hotel had good and bad. Location was good, staff was friendly/helpful, breakfast (free) was great. And it was really handy having a Denny's right next door. Facility/room was run down. Screen on sliding door was torn. And housekeeping never came to clean our room our first day so garbage was overflowing. But front desk staff were great - especially Jessica. She went out of her way to make sure we received a comfortable room and even upgraded us.

I usually stay at a different location, but they were booked so I ended up staying a night at the quality inn Bloomington. The service at this hotel is amazing, staff very friendly. I was also surprised at how well the property was kept up, hotel was clean, my room was spotless. They have free shuttle service to and from the mall of America and airport which was also nice. Great value! Will definitely stay there again when I am in the area.

Great Value! Shuttle to airport was very nice. Staff was very friendly. Having a 24 hour Denny's attached was a big plus. They had a nice pool and hot tub. Breakfast was busy, but I got everything I needed. I will be coming back in August.

I liked that It was best of of both worlds because it has a free breakfast and an attached restaurant . The staff is friendly and hotel was clean. I booked last minute and the rate was reasonable considering the whole town was full

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

We booked online and stated that we needed a room with a fridge (for some medication that needed to stay cold). We reminded them at the desk and they said the room should have a fridge. They set us up in a room that was spacious, but had no fridge. We called down to the desk and they were very nice and apologetically about the situation. They immediately got another room ready for us with a fridge. We went down to get the key and they said that we'd been upgraded to a Jr. Suite because of the issue. We were more than thankful as it wouldnt have been any trouble at all to move two doors down to another room, but they seemed to really want to make it up to us - and more than did.

The rooms was fairly comfortable. The bed was a queen, with fresh and clean sheets. I'd also like to mention that they gave us FIVE pillows! We didnt use the pull out bed, but the couch it was contained in was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and had plenty of towels for 4 or 5 people, let alone just my wife and myself. The room also came with the standard coffee/tea maker, soaps, ironing board, etc. There was a desk, dresser, tables, and ample lighting in the room. The air conditioner was a little tricky to use and was a little strange. If you turned it to "auto" and put the AC on to like 60 degrees... cold air barely came out for a bit, then turned off. I can tell you that it was not 60 degrees in the room. I am not sure where the temp gauge was in the room, but it was wrong. We ended up just putting it on high cool for the entire night to keep it cool in the room.

The pool area on the first floor contained a hot tub, a standard pool (3 to 5 feet deep) and, to our surprise, a shower right in the pool area to rinse off before you got into the pool and when you got out. That was really handy because having to go into a bathroom to quickly rinse off before you go back to the room leaves wet/slippery floors everywhere. While we were in the pool area (in the hot tub) a maintenance guy came in and tested the water temp in the pool (which is heated) and then asked us about the temp of the hot tub. We thought this was great and showed attention to detail.

The breakfast area is closed off until the breakfast hours. The breakfast consists of the general continental breakfast stuff, plus hot ham, bacon, and sausage. People could also use the dual waffle irons. The breakfast also had bagels, donuts, bread, hot and cold cereal, orange and apple juice, and coffee. There was plenty of room to sit and always plenty of food to go around.

The cleaning crew was ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Every time we saw someone on our floor, they asked us if we had everything that we needed and if there was anything they could get us. That was amazing. It felt like there was always someone there to make the customer's stay that much better - despite the time of day or night.

My only complaints:
1. The wifi was "ok" at best. Both my wife and I used our laptops during our stay and the internet would randomly cut out. The moment you thought about calling about it, it would come back on. We tried to connect via our iPad and the little popup login/confirmation window with the wifi did not work correctly, the "continue" button did not function. Finally, I found a way to trick it into working (by randomly disconnecting and connecting, but exiting out of the wifi selection screen right when it connected to avoid the confirmation page). That only worked here and there. The internet wasnt very fast and fairly unreliable. The wifi agreement also says that a person cannot use the internet for profitable reasons. Now, I didnt use it for that, but that seemed kind of stupid. How can the hotel, that houses business people, say that they cannot use the provided wifi for business? Doesnt seem very intelligent.

2. The carpet area in front of our TV in the room was sticky. It felt like someone dumped a bunch of syrup all over the area and it wasnt cleaned properly. Whenever we'd step in that area, our feet would stick to the carpet. We didnt want to call down because we thought we'd be moved again.

3. The TV and the reception was less than useful. First off, the power button on the remote did not function. Every other button worked, but that button did not. The person would have to go to the TV and turn it on, then use the remote to do everything else. Also, the TV reception was terrible. The colors were abnormal and there were lines across the screen for many of the channels. I found this strange since they apparently have cable TV. Seeing as the TV was a "newer" flat screen, combined with the fact that the channels were cable, that the picture would be good. It, however, was not.

4. Whenever the people above us took a shower or flushed their toilet - we could hear it.

5. The balcony had no chairs - none of them did (from what we could see).

6. The BACK of the hotel is faced TOWARDS American Blvd. You have to drive around the side to get to the front of the hotel to avoid looking like the idiots we did when we drove around in circles looking for the lobby.

Positive things that really stood out:
1. Their customer service. They really went above and beyond to fix their mistake and to make my stay the best it could be.

2. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the Mall of America (which is like 5 minutes away). Anyone who has ever driven downtown towards that area knows it is a maze. That is such a great service to provide, and its free!

3. The hotel is right next to the big airport. We heard only 1 plane land or take off, and it was so low and close to the hotel that I could have jumped up and grabbed onto its landing gear. Other than that, we didnt hear any other planes.

4. Walmart is LITERALLY across the street. A carry-out Pizza Hut is down the street. A Denny's is attached to the Hotel Lobby.

Bottom line: This hotel is a great place to stay for a layover or a short visit. The service was great and the hotel was located in a great area with lots of options.

Room Tip: If you are a choice hotels rewards member... you might able to ask for a free upgrade. The more tow...
