“Loved Fairfield at MOA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2005

Great hotel. Can't say enough about it. The staff is friendly and helpful. the shuttles are convenient, although the Mall of America is close enough to walk to. The Mall of America has a light rail stop that will take you directly into downtown Minneapolis and a good pedestrian/shopping mall at Nicollete and 5th. Stay at the Fairfield again? Yah, you betcha!!

This Marriott is convenient to the airport and the Mall of America. (You can walk to the mall if you want to.) The bell staff is always great. I stay here frequently and they are always friendly. SOME of the front desk and restaurant personnel should take some lessons on customer care from the bell staff! Others at the hotel are usually very friendly and accomodating. Any issues seem to be resolved quickly. They finally are updating the rooms and the beds are very comfy. Breakfasts and lunches are good, but evening meals are fair and expensive. There is a nice large indoor pool. There is also a whirlpool and exercise room.

Overall this is a nice hotel and weekend rates are pretty good.

I stay here every other month and when I arrive, I am remembered. The limo drivers know me by name. The rooms are typical Marriott and are clean. The only complaint with the rooms is the heating/ac: there is no thermostat and the blower/fan tends to be very noisy. The concierge lounge is small and can be overcrowded. The hostesses are usually quite nice. Service in the Bistro 79 can be slow at breakfast if there is a crowd. Many small conventions and meetings are held here, but usually this is no a problem. The shuttle to the Mall of America runs every 30 minutes, F-Su, but during the week, it is only once per hour. I often walk to the Mall unless it is very cold and snowy. The business center contains only one computer and I have had to wait up to 40 minutes to check on a flight. Computer use should be monitered and limited to a reasonable amount of time. Even though the hotel is located very near one of the airport runways, noise is not a problem.

Nice but average older Marriott. Across the street from the gaudy Mall of America so shoppers may love it for the proximity-Marriott probably threw a party when they learned that the Mall was going up right next to them. Stayed in 'suite', room is nice, bed was above average/comfy, carpet was filthy, furniture showing wear. Has enclosed pool. workout room, restaurant et al. As a businessman you may want to try the Courtyard or the other newer hotels in the area. Minutes from airport, but long distance to downtown. (The Concierge level room with food etc is great)
