I stayed at the Park Plaza hotel for three nights - Thurs-Sun. I found a great rate on the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Web Site - King Bed for $69 a night (weekend get away rate). I called and asked for a late check in and the staff was very friendly. My room felt a bit humid (it was hot outside) but once I turned on the air things were fine. The king bed was comfortable and I appreciated the desk. I also used the free internet connection. The room was clean and I never heard my neighbors. I looked at the pool area, but there were quite a few kids so I passed. Never used the bar or restaurant. The TV guide in the hotel book didn't match the channels, and there was no golf channel. One elevator was out of service, but I never really had to wait long. I would definitely choose this hotel again.

Park Plaza room was updated since last there in 2005-decor was well chosen with Bath & Body toiletries. Room was quiet-did not hear neighbors. King-sized bed was comfortable and room was standard size with writing desk and reading chair. I did not feel cramped. I did not use the internet connection. Breakfast was made to order and met expectations. Free shuttle to MOA which I used. Two detractions-bar closed at 10pm due to an inhouse prom that night (normally open later) and had to wait 30 minutes for shuttle at MOA (but still preferable to fighting construction/traffic). Otherwise, stay was perfect and for $69.00 with free made to order breakfast along with free MOA coupon book the price could not be beat.

My experience with the Park Plaza began last summer when my now-husband and I booked our wedding reception there. Besides accomodating myriad requests, here are some things I loved:

-The exterior and interior design: elegant and fancy

-The blue, purple and magenta lights highlighting the exterior at night

-The Bath & Body Works amenities

-The *excellent* food at our reception

-The out-of-their-way niceness of Catering Manager Chris Westlund, and the Front Desk Manager and Banquet Manager-even the shuttle bus driver!

We stayed at the Park Plaza for 2 nights. We booked through hotels.com. They had a deal where the second night was half price. It came out to be just over $70 per night. The hotel is set back off the main road, but for the price it's a great location. If you're wanting convienent access to the mall and other shopping, definately stay in bloomington. There were all kinds of other shopping places right on hwy 494 in bloomington (Khols, Sams, Babies R Us). The hotel gave us print outs with directions to the mall of America and the childrens museum in St. Paul. Our check in and out went smoothly, and we loved the pool and hot tub (located in the pool area).
When we booked, we requested 2 double beds, but we ended up with a king, however the hotel gave us a roll away bed for free. I was disappointed that the Plaza didn't have more amenities in the bathroom. I thought a 3 star would have provided a comb, toothbrush, or even a soap holder to place the bar of soap beside the sink, but the bathroom lacked all of these.The room was comfortable and updated. I would stay there again. Overall it was a great stay.
