“Good location for MOA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2010

Every year we spend a long weekend in the Twin Cities and this is the second time we've stayed at the Hyatt Place. It is a quick, easy drive to the Mall of America and being on the east side (rather than the west) of the mall it is MUCH easier to get into the parking area and find parking. It offers a simple breakfast (toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins) and for a price you get order a hot breakfast. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a half wall separating the beds from a sitting area with a pull-out sectional sofa, desk, and kitchenette (mini fridge & sink). The bathroom is tiny and dated but the vanity (located outside the bathroom) is large and nice. The beds are full (rather than queen) but comfortable. We enjoy the pull-out bed in the sectional so our kids do not have to share a bed. We always travel with friends so the seating area is ideal...we can have the kids fall asleep in the beds and visit quietly in the living area. There is also a large LCD tv you can watch from either the bedroom or the living area. The pool is nothing special and there is no hot tub. They offer a shuttle to the MOA but due to the convenient location we have never used it. Staff has always been helpful but I agree that there is not enough staff during the breakfast rush. It is often difficult to find a spot to eat and it seems they always run out of something during breakfast (once coffee, another time cereal bowls). I have not noticed noise from the freeway but it is near the airport and you can sometimes hear that.

The hotel is clean and well-maintained. We enjoy it and will stay there again.

Fabulous family hotel-there seems to be no limit to the number of guests allowed in each room! What a deal! Simply book multiple rooms for large groups, prop the hotel doors open, visit friends, fellow fraternity brothers, and relatives in rooms on the same floor, and make as much noise as you want! Children run freely in the halls, pizza delivery is frequent, (pizza boxes and fast food packaging are stacked by the elevators), and get to the free breakfast early-the food goes fast! Saturday morning is busy in the lobby, as kids without regard to hygiene, (and poorly supervised) grab breakfast items from the buffet. The poorly staffed front desk staff can't keep up, and seating is limited. The Mall of America is close by, and a is very popular destination for families with young children. The hotel decor, large rooms, giant flat screen TV, and reasonable price make it an attractive offer, however it is still the Amerisuites it was before it was aquired by Hyatt. Other Hyatt Place properties are more business traveler friendly, however I if you need sleep and a quiet work enviroment, book elsewhere.

This is a wonderful hotel - the staff are friendly, the room decor is very nice, they offer free shuttle service to the airport and to the Mall of America (both just minutes away). Each room has a very large LCD panel television with lots of channels and the beds are comfy. Rooms also have a separate seating area with a couch and a work desk. Free wireless Internet service is available. The free breakfast buffet is limited (fruit, yogurt, cereals, juice, and toast/bagels) but still adequate for a breakfast. You can also order lunch and dinner (for a fee) from their kitchen - the food was fantastic, the best I have tasted at any hotel. There is lots of (free) parking and a nice swimming pool (3ft to 6ft in depth). BUT, the hotel is located close to a major expressway and if you are a light sleeper (as I am) you may not get a good nights sleep. If traffic noise does not bother you then I truly recommend this place, though ask for a room on the south side of the hotel farther away from the highway.

We stayed one night at the Hyatt Place when leaving early the next morning for a flight.
The hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport and the hotel has shuttle service every 15 minutes, they will also take you to near by resturants and shopping at no charge. The room was modern and clean. They have a nice breakfast in the morning available from 6:00 am. Also had free internet service which was good for printing out your airline boarding passes.
When using the Minneapolis airport in the future we would stay at this hotel.

Basically, I hated this place. The rooms are nice. But it is very loud, and not because of the proximity to the airport. Lots of highway noise, etc. I was further irritated when I called the day before to inquire about the airport shuttle and was simply told to call upon arrival and they would send the shuttle. When I called upon arrival, I was told the shuttle didn't run past 11pm. So I had to take a cab, the driver couldn't find the hotel, and I finally told him to stop and I walked a couple of blocks across a parking lot and through a hedge to get there. There must be other nearby options that are better.

Very important to this location is the shuttle that moves people back and forth between the airport and hotel and also between the hotel and the Mall of America. My young family used the shuttle quite a bit, but on more than one occasion we were made to take special trip outside of the normal shuttle routes to take flight crew to special places. The driver even apologized stating that the hotel gets a lot of business from the airlines. Because of this, I would not stay at this location again.
