We booked this holiday through Peter at Destinology and I have to say from booking to returning from the holiday it was one of the best experiences of our lives. We flew with Qatar airways into Doha then on into Muscat . On arrival at Muscat we were met by a local rep and whisked through immigration to our private transfer car . We stayed in the Al Bandar which is the middle of the 3 hotels and was truly amazing in fact sumptuous would better sum it up!!
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice from fresh fruit to full English to sushi etc always beautifully presented. There are a number of restaurants to choose from and we tried most but our favourite was the Tapas Restaurant - a special thank you to the staff who worked in there who couldn't do enough to make it special.
The fish restaurant Bait al Bahir also deserves a mention for the superb quality of their cuisine.
The piano bar is a really nice way to end the evening with one of their excellent cocktails and listening to relaxing music played live.
when you went to the beach well it was another experience altogether. For once the sunbeds were comfortable !!!! The beach staff were superb and a special mention to Gurung who kept us in cold beers and piña coladas during the day!! Once you had your sunbed sorted out you were given a cool box with bottled water in it and fresh fruit was offered at regular intervals during the day. Cold towels were brought around for you and even your sunglasses were cleaned . You were not allowed to lift a finger to be honest.
The lazy river is real fun and allows you to drift along in a large rubber ring whilst soaking up the sunshine - not a cloud in sight the whole time we were there and average temperature was about 38C.
The spa facilities are also excellent and well worth a visit for a steam and massage.
The resort is well away from the city centre but there are shuttle buses during the day if you want to visit the town - we didn't as we wanted to relax and make the best of the resort.
We did do the dolphin trip which was fun and we saw plenty of dolphins and actually managed to get some good photos of them.
We will definitely be going back and tried to get hold of Peter to re book for 2013 but it's his weekend off so he can expect a call first thing Monday morning!! This time though we will probably stay in the Al Husin which is an adults only hotel and is 6 star over the top luxury, well worth the extra money in my opinion.
This was a truly superb holiday and I can't fault it at all - thank you to all the staff at the resort and the hospitality shown to us while we were there. See you in 2013.
