“We will always come back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2011

We love the Regal Country Inn just for what it is - a two story Bed & Breakfast style inn! We usually look forward to the complimentary fresh cinnamon and caramel nut rolls every morning with our coffee and excellent selection of teas, but this trip, we asked the owner/great chef to treat us to one of his breakfast creations. We were not disappointed! After a few years of staying in the craziness of the chain motels, and tons of snowmobiles in Ironwood, we were blessed to find Dick and the Regal Country Inn for rest and relaxation for our ski weekend getaways. Indianhead is only 5 minutes away! I believe we have been staying here for 5 or more years now, and have learned so much about the people of the U.P. and the history of the area. We always get a good night's sleep and have enjoyed excellent ice cream and gourmet desserts in the 50's ice cream parlor. Dick has helped us find out of the way places to eat and the best route for getting up to the UP! With all of the knick/knacks of the Country Inn theme, I always wonder at the cleanliness (good job Wanda). Our favorite room now (for only the two of us) is the Study Bedroom with the two very comfortable rocking chairs. Two years ago, our car broke down in the middle of nowhere after leaving the Regal Country Inn on a frigid Sunday morning. We called Dick at the Regal and he quickly found us a very reasonable tow truck (AAA was not helpful at all), let us put our car in his garage til morning and whipped up meals for us for our 2 1/2 extra stranded days. We couldn't have asked for a better host to get us thru a broken-down car ordeal! We totally enjoy the laid back, homey atmosphere of the Regal Country Inn.

This hotel was too quiet-to the point of uncomfortably quiet-we were the only guests. I should have taken a hint went I saw the empty parking lot when we checked in, and the next day when we checked out. The chatty owner showed us the rooms, and they were supposed to have a charming B&B theme, dust included. The breakfast consisted of stale, warmed-over cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice, which was extra. The rooms had a musty smell, likely from the antique furniture in each room. The bathroom was dirty in our room, which was dusty with knick knack clutter. It took a VERY long time for hot water to reach the faucets, too. Must be from lack of use. Good thing I remembered the Clorox wipes. The owner-host was too friendly, and I would gather that he has a lot of time on his hands, as he is quite a talker with few and far between guests. I wonder if this Inn is ever busy, or fully occupied? We will never know.

Thanks for your review. I must compliment you. Seems the only good thing here, must have been the rates, or did you miss that one. Looking at your history, the 2 places you have stayed at in the last few years just did not meet your standards. We apoligize for having a quiet, homey and comfortable place with a freindly atmosphere. We are, by the way, a Country Inn. (big Bed & Breakfast). My best suggestion would be to plan ahead, make a reservation, at places that meet your requirements.
Thanks again and hope you have happy travels.
