“Great location and nice beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

My family and I have stayed here many times and the hotel has been very well kept over the years. The rooms are standard, but I was very disappointed that there was not a refrigerator, microwave, or coffee pot in the rooms. Most hotels these days have at least one if not all three. My husband and I have many food allergies and eat quite strict, healthy diets and bring a lot of food with us so this was a little more challenging not having a refrigerator or microwave. However, in the morning a staff member in the kitchen let my husband and I borrow bowls and use the microwave in the kitchen to make oatmeal which was a great help. The hotel is in a great location and has a very nice beach. We will definitely return when in the area!

We enjoyed our stay in a beach front room. Staff was pleasant, room was clean and comfortable.
Location is great. Nice to be able to walk out of our room onto the private beach and watch the sunset. Breakfast could have been stocked better. Ran out of some items and were not very attentive about restocking.

Hello and thank you for your review!
We are pleased that you had a nice anniversary stay with us this summer.
We apologize that the breakfast was not replenished more quickly. The breakfast room gets very busy in the summer months and we do out best to keep items filled as quickly as possible.

Please be sure to visit us again soon.
Thank you!

Very nice resort within walking distance of park and downtown Traverse City. Private beach and very nicely kept hotel. Great service. The only downside would be on the Saturday evening the wedding party block room folks came in at 1 am and spent a half hour screaming, beating on doors, slamming doors and generally not being a mature considerate group. The other evening was restful and great. There were numerous wedding party groups at this hotel on Saturday evening.

Room Tip: WiFi was not working the second evening of the stay.

We only stayed one night at the Bayshore Resort. When I called for a reservation I asked about the AAA discount as is indicated on the website, however I was advised that the AAA discount is only for the off season. The location is good with the beach and close to town. This is the reason we had picked this hotel. We got the two queens eastside room which mainly had a view of some trees. The room was somewhat dated. One of the lights did not work in the room. We went down to the beach and were disappointed in the plastic furniture outside. It was pretty uncomfortable for us to sit on for very long. I went looking for towels. There was a bin for the used towels, but I was advised after searching that you had to go to the workout room for towels to use on the beach. The little balcony with our room was nice and where we spent most of our time. The next morning I went down to breakfast. The sausage was lukewarm at best and the cut fruit was warm. The waffle pieces were ok, but again were not really warm. There was a sign on the front of the hotel saying something about no smoking within so many feet of the building, but there were multiple people right outside the hotel smoking. The people working at the hotel were pleasant, however for $220 we were disappointed in our experience.

On our trip around lake we arrived in traverse city during cherry festival needed a room and choice this one because it looks nice on the outside...it was not cheap room 230 does not face the lake but does have a balcony looking at the parking lot for $179.00. On a Tuesday night....the room was clean big and nice....good bed... We ordered pizza from a local place and it was delivered to the room. Hot and good....next morning went down stairs for breakfast...one gal was doing everything and she was not happy never smiled...and appeared grumpy....a lot of people food went fast and the young woman was not quick or. Friendly replacing things."not a good experience" for 179.00 plus tax. There's a lot of places on the lake would try another one next time...oh....the rate was with our AAA discount....

We were only at the Bayshore resort for one night after visiting some wineries, but I would definitely return for future visits. The person I spoke to on the phone when making the reservation was helpful, polite, spoke clearly over the phone. Check in only took a minute, and again, the person at the desk was very polite. The room itself had dated decor, but it was very clean and well maintained, and the beds were comfortable and the pillows fluffy. Our room was not one of the rooms with a water view, so I can't comment on that.

The pool and gym were open from 7 am to 11 pm. The indoor pool and hot tub were clean with towels provided and not too crowded. I didn't go into the gym, though. There is a deck with seating on the beach at the back of the resort with a great view for sunsets. The resort is also less than a mile walking distance to downtown Traverse City.

The free breakfast was also much better than I have seen at most hotels. It had the basic toast, cereal, and yogurt, but also had pancakes, pastries, fresh fruit, sausage, and cheese omelettes. Altogether the resort exceeded my expectations.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlooked the indoor pool, which is open until 11. These might not be good rooms for pe...
