“Beautiful View of the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2010

Our stay at the Cherry Tree Inn was excellent. First off we booked the weekend on Hotels.com for a king sized room but after some researching, we found out that we wanted to upgrade our room upon arrival. When we arrived the lobby was beautiful, cozy, and warm with a fireplace and a grand piano. The staff upgraded our room to a suite with no problem for an extra $15 a night! Our room was so big with a enormous hot tub, fireplace, and it showed wonderful views of the lake. The bathrooms were clean and we both had a robe to wear that was located in the closet. The hotel was quite centrally located to downtown Traverse City and maybe 5min away from skiing and tubing. So if you want to stay on the water and be in heart of it all, I strongly recommend this hotel. we are already booking our next trip there for the summer.

Thank you for your review. I love the picture that you took from your balcony - I've never seen a perspective with the shadow of building before. Thank you for that. I'm glad you enjoyed the upgrade and your stay. There are so many choices in Traverse City, so it's important for us to take care of each guest or person who sets foot on our property and in our hotel. Thank you again. Get ready - spring is coming! :)

Best,

My husband, I and friends stayed at the Cherry Tree Inn for 2 nights in Jan. 2010. We all 4 loved it and will return again soon. We have passed the Cherry Tree for over 14 years of going to TC--at least 3 times a year, but never stayed there before. Fantastic service and accomidations. Desk staff so pleasant, rooms very clean and view delightful. The breakfast 'hit the spot'. There were even fresh baked cookies on the desk counter when we arrived to check in----"who does that anymore"??
We all stated several times that we will return to Cherry Tree Inn for our next week-end getaway trip.
Thanks, Paul and Lila Nydam

Our room was the Leelanau Ste-remodeled. Very clean, comfortable & cozy, with a balcony view of the bay. Beautiful!!! Their staff was friendly and helpful. It was wonderful, we wish we could have stayed longer. Full kitchen-just bring food. Seperate master bedroom w/hot tub, fireplace in living room. Great complimentary breakfast. Everything we needed was available. We have stayed at Cherry Tree Inn before and will continue to stay there when visiting the area.

I stay at this hotel every 8 weeks on buisness. My wife and I decided to spend our anniversary in Traverse city and naturally selected the Cherry Tree Inn. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always friendly. The manager, Jonathan, went out of his way to insure that our stay exceeded our expectations. Thanks, and I look forward to many more visits!

My husband, son and I deccided to stay at this hotel after having a bad experience at a much higher rated hotel down the road. When we made the reservation the staff was very friendly and accomidating. We arrived a couple hours before the original check in time and the room we booked wasn't ready yet so lady at the front desk upgraded our room for free to get us checked in earlier. Later in the evening we were using their wireless internet in our room and it went down. We called the front desk and they promptly had it fixed for us. In the morning we were all wished safe travels by the cleaning staff as well as the front desk staff. We felt very welcome and the rooms were all very clean and comfortable for us and our 2 year old son. On our way out to the car one of the members of the cleaning staff came running out with my cell phone, she saved us either a very long trip back to the hotel or a very large bill for a new phone.

Thank you for your review of your stay at the Cherry Tree! We're so glad you enjoyed it and I'm proud that our staff was friendly and accommodating. I was especially happy to see my housekeeping team member rush out to your car when she found your cell phone.
Thank you for your patience with our wireless Internet. You were here when we were installing our new network. We went from 5 access points to 20, so our coverage is outstanding now. We also now have 24 hour live technical support for guests who are trying to connect. We're really pleased with it so far.
Thank you again. Have a nice winter.

Best,

Jonathan P.

This was the first time in 3 years that we have stayed at the Cherry Tree Inn. We used to stay every year some years ago in the summer but their beach is not what it used to be; however, this is not the fault of Cherry Tree Inn, it's all in location and the DNR. Since it was a last minute trip for the weekend and the winter, it brought us back to the Cherry Tree Inn because you just can't beat their prices and service.
We stayed in the remodeled Leelanau Suite (Room 322) and it was very nice, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a very nice job, as always and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the expanded breakfast with the waffles, eggs and sausage (was not like that last time we stayed). We enjoyed lounging the in the lobby room with the fireplace and having access to the internet. All the things we always enjoyed about the Cherry Tree were still in place.
Just a couple minor recommendations:
1). The pool was a bit chilly which stopped my husband from going in with my 9 year old. She loved swimming in it but did say it was even a bit cold for her.
2) Cherry Tree really, really needs to add hooks and towel bars in the bathroom. When taking a shower, there was no place to hang your towel within reach or put your clean PJ's. We hung the clean towel on the door handle and you still had to walk out of the shower to reach it. I would highly recommend a hook on the back of the door (for robes, etc.) as well as a towel rack on the wall right outside the shower to hang towels.
3) The toilet plugged up 4 times during out stay. Just a suggestion to have a plumber take a look at it.
Other then those 3 minor things, which in no way ruined out stay, I would, and always have, recommend the Cherry Tree Inn to family and friends. You just can't beat the cleanliness, price, and service.

Hello!

Thank you for your review and we're happy to have you back as a guest again! I'm glad you enjoyed our Front Desk staff's helpfulness and housekeeping's cleanliness. Thank you for listing your concerns, too. With the pool, we've gotten a few concerns with the temperature of it lately. Our digital read out is showing 82 degrees for the pool water, 103 degrees for our hot tub, and 75 degrees for the room's air temperature. I've noticed a few guests raise concerns about the pool temperature, so we bought a brand new mercury thermometer and left it in for the day, and it showed 82 degrees as well. Thus, our temperatures are right and accurate, so we're going to turn up the temperature a little as well as look to turn up the air temperature as well. We definitely want guests comfy in the pool!
I absolutely agree with the towel bars in the bathrooms of our second-building suites. In fact, I recently found extra towels bars that I have instructed our maintenance staff to install in those rooms. So we will have those installed soon. Thank you for that advice
And we will certainly look into the plumbing issue you may have had with the toilet.
Thank you again for your review and your visit. We wish you the very best and wonderful end to your winter.

Best,

Jonathan P.

My wife and I have stayed at the Cherry Tree Inn 8 times over the past 3 years and every visit has been great. The hotel is quiet, the rooms are the most comfortable of any hotel where we have ever stayed. The staff is also very helpful and courteous and they remember us every time we return.

The free continental breakfast in the morning is excellent, complete with pastries, juices, fruit, waffle maker and fixings for breakfast sandwiches.

The rooms are well furnished and nicely decorated and the entire hotel is very well maintained and clean.

The location is also good -- about 15-20 minutes away from the Old Mission wineries, 20-30 minutes from the Leelenau Peninsula wineries, and 7 minutes to downtown Traverse City. Parking at the hotel is always sufficient and the indoor pool is small, but nice.

We have recommended this hotel to family and friends and all have been very pleased with their stay. We look forward to our next stay at the Cherry Tree Inn in spring 2010.
