“Quiet Hours too late”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is a great hotel with a lot to do, but please be aware that if you are traveling with very small children (ours were 4 and under at the time) that quiet hours do not begin until 11:00 pm. At 10:00 at night the people above us were still very loud, even though the manager had stopped by to ask them politely to quiet down a bit as there were small children trying to sleep. The manager basically told us that there was not a lot she could do until quiet hours began at 11. Although I understand that this is fun place for families to be, 11:00 quiet time is just too late for my small children. Had I known that ahead of time, we probably would have waited until our kids were a bit older before we visited this hotel.

My family recently stayed at Great Wolf Lodge, Traverse City, MI because our niece had her wedding reception there. We were pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the staff and impressed with how friendly and helpful they were. We got a great deal on our room and were thrilled with how large the room was upon our arrival. Everything was in wonderful shape and very clean. The staff at the water park was exceptionally cheerful and helpful too! Overall, this is a trip that I would recommend to my family and friends! The only criticism that I would have is the high cost of the MagiQuest activities.

The Good:
We enjoyed a two night stay here as a family. We traveled with our 2 1/2 year old and six month old. Our oldest loved the waterpark. There was plenty to do for her even though she wasn't able to ride on the bigger waterslides. The Critter Cafe restaurant had surprisingly good food and the breakfast buffet had much to choose from. We chose to stay in the largest suite available, as we wanted to have another isolated bedroom so that the kids could sleep comfortably. The room was clean, but needed some repairs. For example, the main wall had tons of dirt marks and smudges on it that could have easily been wiped away with a magic eraser. It didn't detract from the room overall.
The Bad:
It was a little noisy. I am a light sleeper so I brought my noisy box fan and still could hear kids tromping through the halls at all hours. The hotel does it's best to remind patrons of the "hibernation hours", but there is no substitute for good parenting I suppose. In addition, the kids doing the Maji quest really slowed down the elevators. They would often roam unsupervised from floor to floor for hours at a time. That being said, we knew it was a family hotel and weren't expecting complete quiet.
Overall:
We truly enjoyed our stay and might make it a yearly event. The surrounding area was so beautiful during the month of October. All of the employees we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. The kids had a great time.

We had a great stay at GWL in Traverse City. We stayed in a Kid Cabin Suite and it was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and housekeeping took care of an accident my little boy had during nap time fairly efficiently. We went to the waterpark after nap and it took a couple of hours but was done nonetheless so we could get ready at suppertime to go out. The wait times were almost non-existent on the slides and the hot tub was never crowded. We got a great deal by booking in the spring for a summer long weekend. The Traverse City area is fantastic as well so we had other things to do during our stay rather than waterpark it the whole time. I highly recommend the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes if you go.

We just got back from a two-day stay here and we all THOROUGHLY enjoyed it! Staff was very friendly, helpful and overall efficient, hotel was very clean and a true pleasure to be apart of for a couple of days. Things weren't overly pricey for this type of family getaway at all...*Big Hint* here make sure to get a Paw Pass with your package here, it really does save some bucks for you! We'll be back eventually to this lodge, that's for sure! My wife, myself and my two boys 11 and 5 had a GREAT TIME!!!

Room Tip: I listed the location as poor because mapquest and our gps had us running all over Traverse city try...

Super nice staff, fun place, and large and comfy rooms.

We were on are way to Sleeping bear and decided to stop at the lodge for one night. The staff was really helpful and SUPER friendly.

I would go back for a little break.
