“Cute little place, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We were there for a long weekend and pleasantly surprised by this place. The rooms were clean and updated, not modern but updated. They view was great and right on the beach, cute outside area, with grills to use, lots of seating area and beach chairs and loungers. The only downfall is the sheets were a little stiff. Right across the street was a pizza deli and a market for all your wine and food wants! I would definitely stay there again! Large room and had a large jacuzzi tub.

Room Tip: We had a suite, second floor.

cute hotel right on the beach. all rooms are beach front and it has a private beach, which is nice because it does not get too crowded. the staff is awesome and very helpful, they love to make sure that you are not only having a great stay at their hotel, they want to make sure you have an awesome time in traverse city.

This June was our 2nd stay at the Beach Haus. We were pleased in 2012. A lot of upgrades made over the winter and 2013 was wonderful. Rooms painted, new carpet, new drapes, flat screen Television.
This is a wonderful and beautiful hotel located on the beach. It isn't for everyone but it sure is for me. It doesn't have the glamour of a hotel lobby or a restaurant, but that isn't why I go to Traverse City. I just want to spend quiet time on the beach, and shop til I drop. With a day set aside for a wine tour.

Room Tip: Ground level with patio.

This is my second stay here. Great view from room. Personal patio off room. Green spacious area with ample seating. Clean beautiful sandy beach. Two doors down from parasailing. Nice to watch. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is filling.

Room Tip: Stayed on ground floor. Very convenient to beach access.

This hotel is not a resort the hotel is very old and dated the beds are very uncomfortable. The bathrooms are very old. The only good part is the beach, but hey your on Grand Traverse Bay how can it be bad. The hotel is very pricey so clearly you are paying for the view.

I would have to agree with some of the reviews that this is not a "full service" resort. However, if you go by the definition of a resort, that you wouldn't have to leave the place for your entire vacation, I can pretty much vouch for that it is a resort. I am a not fussy type traveler. I like to do my own thing and not to be served on. So it worked for us.

We were able to grill our own steaks right on their grills (the market is right across the street). I love how laid back everyone is. And that you can grill your steaks and just sit there for hours and enjoy the picture perfect sunset (along with the bottle of wine that we brought with us). Make sure you ask the front desk for grill utensils and bring your own plates and steak knives.

My favorite thing about the hotel is that it is non-pretentious. I doesn't try to be a luxury hotel and the private beach is a lot quieter than some of the other hotels. We can hear the bad karaoke singing and loudness of other properties and were so glad we were at the quieter and less crowded area of the beach.

Do keep in mind that this is an older property and that there are window unit A/C's. The free breakfast is a very basic continental breakfast. But once you know what to expect - the friendly staff, cleanliness, and quaint atmosphere, and huge patios/ balconies facing the beach will really make you want to return to Beach Haus every time you visit Traverse City. We will be returning next summer for sure!

Our room was small, not well maintained and way over priced. The vertical blinds would barely close, the shower wall was coming apart and the a/c was very loud. The towels and sheets were rough. Housekeeping didn't bother to take out the trash, or the used washclothes, didn't sweep the floor and didn't replace the plastic cups or the ice bucket liner. We will not be back to the Beach Haus.
