“Attractive, comfortable and accomodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2012

From the moment we checked in, this hotel and staff did not disappoint. We were traveling with a group of 13 ladies, and were able to get our rooms close to eachother. The staff from the front desk to the bar (thanks Ken,) to the cleaning personnel, were accomodating and friendly. Beds were extremely comfortable, and the suite size was great for relaxing. The hotel is clean and modern, and the buffet breakfast was delicous and priced right. One of the nicest features is the shuttle service to downtown Traverse City. We used it several times, and they were always reliable. Ate at the Appache Trout Grill and had a wonderful meal and dining experience.

I have stayed at this location about 20 times and everytime it is a wonderful experience. The staff is super friendly and accomdating. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet ($7.99) in the morning with fresh made overstuffed omelets, fresh cut fruit, oatmeal, juices, sausage, potato wedges, thick maple bacon. The rooms have a small seating area with lcd tv and couch. The bedroom area has one of the most comfortable beds around and I stay in over 100 hotels a year. The give you a complimentary wall street journal, usatoday or the local paper. The entrance area is nice for small get togethers and has two touch screen computers that actually work vs. most hotels with free printing. They have a shuttle service that will take you a local resturant or store if needed. The pool area is indoors and well kept. They also have a patio outside the dining area for the summer months.

I have stayed at this hotel several times while in the area for work. I really enjoy the modern decor and spaciousness of the rooms. Each time I have stayed here the rooms have been extremely clean. I like the walk in shower in the bath. The rooms have a studio feel with the bedroom, comfortable sitting area, desk/workstation, coffee and tea making facilities and a microwave and mini fridge all within a nice layout. The hotel offers room service dining or you can eat down in the restaurant. There is also a coffee bar and a small store selling snacks and drinks. This hotel is a great value in the off season months of Oct to May when rates are drastically lowered.

Stayed here for one night, very pleased with the hotel until about 3:30am. Guest had arrived next to us then, were extremely rude and and loud. This was not the hotel's fault, but considering the hotel was not remotely busy, we wondered why you would put any guest checking in at 3:30 am, right next to an occupied room. I have to believe there was a room available that would not have been so disturbing to anyone. Called the front desk, who called the rude guests. They quieted down slightly, sounded like they were moving furniture, doors must has slammed 10-15 times. After talking to the front desk in the morning, it was suspected they were sneeking additional guests in the back door. Perhaps if someone would have actually come up to the 3rd floor, they would have figured it would right then. Common sense was not taken by the front desk, in placement of the guests and checking on the problem. Hope they handle such a problem differently in the future.

As for the hotel, very nice, new clean, but was such a disappointed early that morning, other wise would have given an excellent review.

Room Tip: The restaurant was decent (dinner), very nice waiter, considering it was in the hotel. Check out t...

The rooms are huge, comfortable, clean, and the staff great.

We were in the penthouse which has three windows and it was cold in there. The thermostat was limited to 74 degrees and would shut off around 73 degrees. The first time I complained I was told nothing could be done. The next day I asked for a space heater and the desk person sent a maintenance man up. He told me all the thermostat' maximums are set from a central computer and he would check it out. It turns out that the largest rooms have heat pumps and the other rooms have wall units. For some reason the large room heat pumps were set at a maximum of 74 degrees and the other rooms' wall units were set at a maximum of 77 degrees. He changed them all to 77 degrees and it was very comfortable after that.

The second minor complaint is with the lobby coffee. There is only coffee set out (free) during the breakfast hours. You can ask the front desk person for coffee after that and sometimes it is free and sometimes it isn't. I don't know if the front desk person is just being nice with the free coffee or if it is supposed to be free all the time.

Again, these are minor complaints and the hotel is now our favorite place to stay in Traverse City.

Room Tip: Get the penthouse if you can. It's much bigger and doesn't cost much more (if any).

We spent several weeks here summer of 2010. My husband was back for shorter stays. Wonderful place to stay. Enjoyed every minute of our time there.

We stayed here on a Saturday night with our 2 kids. They LOVED the warm pool and enjoyed sitting with us at "Happy Hour". We were disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price...so many hotels include this now that we took for granted that the Cambria Suites did not. The hotel is upscale...Wolfgang Puck menus, and the rooms were nice. We would stay again!
