My mom and I took a last-minute trip to Traverse City for the funeral of a family member. We booked the Knights Inn based on the reviews here. The price seemed too low for the area but I trusted the reviews...and I'm glad I did.
Due to the last-minute nature of our trip, we ended up arriving before normal check-in. The front desk clerk, Katie (?), was very friendly and helpful. The place was not heavily booked, so she kindly let us check in a bit early. We were able to get in a quick shower before heading to the services. We are very appreciative of this kind gesture during a not so fun tirp.
The room was in excellent condition. Very clean, even under and behind the furniture. It's an older motel style facility that is clearly very well maintained. The rooms have obviously been fully remodeled within the past couple of years. My mom made a comment to me on how comfortable the beds were, and I have to agree...we both slept very soundly. There was even a nice mini-fridge tucked in under the vanity...something I don't expect in a low-cost room. The upstairs balconies have well maintained flower boxes that show the attention taken in caring for this motel.
The lobby/breakfast area was just as well maintained and clean. Breakfast is simple but more than adequate. 4 kinds of cereal, assorted donuts, breads for toasting, a fridge full of assorted yogurts, apple and orange juices, coffee, milk. Breakfast is also served till 10am, much later than at many places I've stayed. When a couple young men came in after a female staff member had begun to put the food away, she brought items back out for them and checked with all of us to be sure we didn't want anything else before completely finishing her tear down.
This will be my go-to place for future trips to Traverse City. They've earned my repeat business!
If you are a light sleeper, see if you can get a room that doesn't face the main road. It didn...
