After reading all of the positive reviews, we were excited to be staying at the Old Mission Inn over the 4th of July weekend. The Inn is very old, is full of antiques, and Angie is very friendly and will tell you all about the history of the Inn...but it wasn't for us. We had a suite on the first floor, and when we arrived on an 85 degree day, there was a window air conditioning unit in the bedroom that wasn't even on...our room was stifling! We turned it on and had it cranked up to high the whole weekend but it was still uncomfortably hot! The bedroom and bathroom were very small, and there was only one small tv, which was in the living room area...nothing in the bedroom. Also a big negative for us was the distance to Traverse City. It is about a 20 minute drive...which is quite a ways after being out at the cherry festival until midnight! If you like lots of antiques, don't plan on spending much time in Traverse City, and plan on spending your vacation or weekend away laying in a hammock, the Old Mission Inn is probably right up your alley! If you enjoy the modern conveniences of a television in the bedroom, electrical outlets in the bathroom, and air conditioning, you might want to pass on this place.
