“Leadership retreat ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We used this location for a leadership retreat and planning session.

It was a great location that had lots to do that allowed us to enjoy the beautiful location.

On site catering and on site restaurant were great with some very flavorful dinner options

Have skied Crystal numerous times but finally making a review. What's nice is they have aspects all 4 ways. Although no long runs Thor, nosedive, gorge , and the glades stir most any skiers blood. They make the most out of 375' vertical. You have north facing north face, south/west facing Ridge, and east the rest. The grandsons love the easier Glacier valley glades and the Buck glades are a great open addition having been poachable in years past. The area has a lot more character than the man made peaks of Caberfae although a half hour extra drive. Between Loki quad, Clipper High speed quad, north face quad, Buck quad, and Ridge triple this place keeps people moving. Rarely do they have to open the old center pole Cheers double.

As most areas like Boyne, Nubs and Crystal are approaching $70+ for adult rates I recommend looking at their prepaid site.(liftopia)I just got a bargain for Good Friday( last weekend open) for $12.99. I can do Crystal in a day trip(2 hrs each way from Grand Rapidsarea) but we usually stay in Traverse and do Shanty Schuss the next day.

I actually rate Nubs # 1, the Boynes # 2, and Crystal # 3 for pure ski areas. But Crystal is the closest.

As far as golf the Mountain Ridge course is nice but once again in my opinion Treetops, the Boynes, and Shanty Creeks numerous tracts are much better.and we have a ton of great courses in the Grand Rapids area.

While we usually spring break to the south and at the very least make a parallel visit to either Chicago or the east...our 16 year old son requested a trip that he would enjoy...Thank goodness Crystal Mountain is enjoyable for all ages and all interests! The trip we booked was part of a special B2G1 Free with lift tickets included, and everything from booking with Saun to our room cleaning with Bruce to ski rentals with Dan to a minor room problem (handled with efficiency and expertly by Bob in maintenence and John from security) to check in and checkout with Jayme...was FANTASTIC! Great beginner exterior our 6 year old, fun tree run for my husband and an A+ from the boarder. Nice family programs like laser tag, DJ led pool party, campfire n smores, outdoor hot tub, game boards, etc. Beautiful spa with a long list of treatments that I'll have to try next time!

I was seeking to get my family additional ski time but we are all beginners. I researched Crystal Mountain's website and I liked how their village was set up and the resort was only 5 hours from home. I booked by phone and they were very friendly and set me up just right. We arrived at 11 p.m. at night and we were welcomed by a friendly staff and the room was great for a family of four. My wife and I liked the separate bedroom for ourselves and the boys had a queen size bed to split.

The resort is small enough to walk around without the free shuttle, though if you rent a house or a mountain top townhouse, the shuttle would be handy. I was about 30 yards from the ski lifts and were skiing very quickly in the morning. The resort had an organized and family feel. The lunch cafeteria and lodge bar are cozy but this place cannot handle the large crowds like Boyne, which is good because I felt I had more skiing to myself on the runs.

The indoor pool was big enough for a dip after skiing and they have an up to date fitness area. The spa area looked very nice but we did not try the services.

Our dinner at the Thistle Restaurant was awesome, food prepared correctly and to order with a lot o taste and great service. The restaurant's environment felt warm and designed to have a conversation without a lot of other noise.

I would recommend this resort for couples or families.

We stayed at the Hamlet Hotel. The room was clean and fresh, unlike some other ski Resort Hotels that tend to be really musty. Each room comes with their own outdoor ski locker which is really great. You don't have to drag your skis up to the room. The ski lift was just outside our door. The restaurant food was good and not overpriced. We went to the Thistle Pub both nights for dinner and the food was excellent. The mountain has a lot of green and blue runs with a few black runs as well so that the entire family can enjoy the mountain. We have a new favorite Midwest ski area!

Just returned from our 6th stay @ Crystal since 2010. We have stayed in the Resort Homes, the Cottages, Kinlochen, and now Wintergreen (smallest rooms). All were great, very clean, stocked with everything we needed. Perfect ski hill for the kids to learn and then be a little independent once they have mastered it. Over the years, our kids took lessons and all instructors were great. Best value for a family ski vacation.

Room Tip: The website has a great map online, I called and requested that we be in a building that would be wa...

We have stayed at Crystal Mountain condos several times, but never in the Pinehurst condos. Pinehurst units are older and very dated on the interior. The kitchen and bathroom are in desperate need of a facelift. We did love the fireplace and living room area, and the location wasn't bad, but should have paid a bit more and gotten a Wintergreen unit. Pinehurst was also a bit noisier that we found acceptable. Now that we know not all condos are undated, we will be more careful when making reservations.

Room Tip: AVOID PINEHURST and reserve Wintergreen.
