May & June 2013
On our recent 5 week long vacation between Saginaw and Tawas, we always made sure we were hungry whenever we drove through Standish just so we could eat here! I'm not sure why this place would have any negative reviews. We are NOT from the area so we are not biased to other restaurants, but chose to eat here instead of the multitude of restaurant choices in Saginaw. We ate here a total of 6 times and NEVER got a bad meal, nor bad service.
Their sandwiches are excellent and their bread sticks (appetizer) are the bomb! It has a 'pub' atmosphere, which I consider much different (and upscale) from a 'bar' atmosphere. Maybe other reviewers were reviewing 'dinnertime' and this would NOT be my choice for a nice dinner. However, for lunchtime I feel that it has an excellent selection, excellent portions (size of sandwich), excellent service, excellent quality of food, and excellent prices for what we received. Of all the selections, I would recommend the steak sandwich (steak, green pepper, onion, and Swiss on a very soft and warm, sweet roll bun). Their nacho bar is pretty decent too, but no matter what you order, make sure you get the bread sticks with marinara sauce! ;)
Sometimes we had the same waitress and other times we had a different one (about 3 different gals total) and never found a single one to be inattentive to our needs. I consider myself a classy businesswoman and I never felt out of place here with my 16 year old. Also, it was very air conditioned every time (unlike what another reviewer reported). I had on shorts (because it was hot out) and my legs were on the cold side. I took in a jacket to cover my legs every time after that.
We will definitely be back next year as long as nothing changes!
