“One night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

One night stay with two other girl friends. Requested a queen suite with two beds, as there were three of us, however they only had a king-suite, which turned out to be ok. There was a pullout for the third girl, which was very uncomfortable. The hotel was newer and the rooms were clean and modern. Other guests were a little loud and room A/C and heating didn't remain consistant. Nice free-continental breakfast, with hot and cold foods. $100 for the night, but wished they would have offered free wi-fi.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevator.

Conveniently located with huge 2 room suites, 2 TVs, well maintained and clean. Nice indoor pool and excersize room. Spacious breakfast room to enjoy a decent breakfast with a good variety. Very friendly staff. Plenty of free parking.

As a frequent traveler, I stay at this hotel once a month or so on business and am always satisfied. This is a suite hotel, so all the rooms are mini-suites, with a bedroom and a front room with microwave, sink, refrigerator, small table, and sleeper sofa, with TVs in each. I like having a refrigerator and microwave so that I don't have to eat out every night and can prepare my own meals. There are some quick service restaurants in the immediate area, like a Qdoba and Chipotle, and there is a hot dog stand (a "Coney," in the lingo of Detroit) next door. The breakfast is the usual Holiday Inn Express, with something for everyone. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Some of the equipment in the workout room is a little beat up, but it all works fine. After a dozen or so visits, I'm happy to continue visiting this particular Holiday Inn Express.

Spent one Saturday night at this suburban HI Express. Under $100 for a King Suite, two rooms, two TV's, wet bar and free wi-fi. Quiet. Spotless. Usual HI Express breakfast: nothing fancy but plenty of fruit, cereal, yogart, juice and, of course, those cinnamon buns. Extra bonus: largest small hotel swimming pool I've seen. No complaints whatsoever. Great value.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

I booked this room for a weekend getaway for my husband and I for his birthday. It was a hidden gem that we did not know about. It was very nice and clean hotel. The lobby air freshner is a little much, but at least you know it is clean. The morning breakfast is nice, we did not know it was over at 10;00. We went down at 10:30 and it was still set up the girl who was helping with the breakfast was really nice and help us get things that were already put away. They really had a nice spread, we caught the full breakfast the next day. More than I have ever seen at Continental breakfast (biscuit/gray, ham, eggs etc). The swimming pool and whirlpool is a nice touch for an express. Their was teenage/kids birthday party and they were taking advantage of it, but the temperture of the whirlpool was nice. Did not use the swimming pool, but the kids seem to be enjoying it. Our room was very nice and clean. I was surprise to know that every room is suite, was a very nice surprise to walk into. Loved the rooms, two TV's so we did not have to argue about what we were watching on TV, he could watch what he wanted and I could watch what I wanted. Unfortunately it was the evening Whitney Houston died, so it was nice to be able to watch the breaking news and not have to fight over the TV. The hotel is really close to a lot of restaurant so we did not have a hard time trying to find something to eat either (Tim Hortons, Qdorba Mexican, Chinese etc) I really enjoyed my stay and would booked this hotel again :)

I stayed for business and the front desk staff was helpful. The first room that they gave me was not very clean so I requested a new room. The room was cleaner, but same outdated decor as the previous room. A previous review stated that this hotel is used as a safehouse for displaced people and yes they do that. I do understand that people need a place to stay if they are victims of fire and other disasters so I do not have a problem with that. I will say that the hotel looks much nicer on the outside than it does on the inside. It also only has 1 elevator so needless to say very long waits when you are trying to come and go. I did like the microwave and refrigerator and the convenient location. However, as a frequent traveller, I have stayed in nicer hotels for the price.
