My partner and I were staying in the Sault Ste. Marie area for a New Year's trip, and we were trying to find a good restaurant for dinner on the Friday night. The front desk clerk at our hotel recommended Ang-Gio's, so we figured we'd give it a try. We had read a lot of the reviews on here beforehand and determined that it was probably old. Some of the reviews are good, but others seem to be unfairly negative.
In general, we were pretty satisfied. It's a small, cozy restaurant with good food. Not incredible, but more than acceptable. The building is definitely older, but there were no problems. We had good service, and the food was fine. My lasagna was fine (not excellent, but fine), and my partner had a fish dinner that he liked. He liked the fried perch but wasn't too enamored by the broiled whitefish. The salad and bread before our dinner were both good. No complaints at all.
You can't expect a 5-star restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie. Yes - the decor is dated and the restaurant probably could do some renovating, but you can't knock it at all. Keep in mind this is not New York City!!!
We had a fine experience there and would not mind eating there again.
