“Our Kids Thought is was Great!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

My wife, I, and two kids toured this ship and we thought it was great. There was lots of hands on things for the kids to see and do. The aquariums had fish indigenous to Lake Superior and we loved the Edmund Fitzgerald pictures and artifacts. The kids thought that the place would never end... My wife and I loved it as well and if we have a chance to get back there, we certainly will!!!

“Interesting museum, great views from top of ship!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

This museum would benefit from having tour guides, but you can get a good self tour by reading the signs posted at each exhibit. There is a scavenger hunt if you have children with you, but you must ask for the information at the desk. The best exhibit was on the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking, they have a really good movie about the ship. Do tour the outside and top of the ship, the view is wonderful. Allow at least two hours to tour the ship.

“Nice ship”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Ship is nicely portrayed, well kept.No docents so once your past the admission booth you are pretty much on your own. Admission is a bit pricey. Adjacent giftshop used to have an outstanding maritime book selection, now not so much. Gift shop slid badly a few years back but has rebounded.

“A massive boat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We had watched the ships go through the locks so it was nice to see one up close. There are exhibits throughout the ship telling the history of the Great Lakes shipping industry and the locks. You have the tour on your own so there are no guides to go with you. Plus you get to see where the crew lived and how the ship worked. We thought it was very interesting. Took us about 1.5 hours.
