Our first impressions of the Mermaid were not great - the room we sat in initially was freezing and drafty and the menus are disgusting - look and feel kind of like they were sitting on a gas station bathroom floor or someting. Everything from then on, however, was great. Our server, Melanie, was perfect - friendly, knowledgeable, and honest (didn't hurt that she is adorable either). The sodas are large. My grilled chicken salad was just right - based on a good variety of quality greens, a nice piece of chicken on top, and dressing that was neither too salty nor excessive in quantity. (Dressing fans might consider requesting extra.) My wife had the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Pasta, which she enojoyed thoroughly. I thought it had a unique combination of flavors (in a good way) and the artichoke hearts were an excellent component, rounding the dish out nicely. Portions were very large.
