“Disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

As others have noted, calling this place a "resort" is ridiculous. It is a poorly run motel. No pool, no maid service, no daily outdoor maintenance. The rooms are extremely odd with cheap double Murphy beds (not Queens) that are aligned sideways, making it difficult for the person next to the wall to get out. The rooms have oversized kitchen facilities, with permanent signs on all the dishwashers reading "out of order." Ice makers in two of the 3 rooms we rented were also out of order. The kitchens were poorly stocked, one room had only a single coffee cup. None had any tools for cleaning except a role of paper towels, which had to be used to clean the outdoor furniture which was covered with lots of bird poop because it is placed under elderberry trees. Like the furniture, the outdoor grills were filthy. The ceiling fans had huge mounds of cobwebs on them, the TVs were installed on the walls by an amateur, each with a rat's nest of wires protruding in every direction. When we arrived there was a renovation going on with tools and supplies spread all over the lawn and power tools buzzing for several hours. It is not at all clear why the owners would choose to do this during peak season. There was also a huge puddle of standing water requiring us to wade into one of the units. As noted the units smell of mildew, the taste of decoration is Church rummage sale pitch. There was no indication of check out time in any of the info we received or posted in the rooms, but that didn't stop a rather rude woman in charge of the cleaning crew from complaining that we were still there at 10:45 am on the day we were checking out--which reminds me that there was no daily maid service! Some of these problems might have been ignored if the place were a bargain..but it is not.

This place is falsely advertised. It is NOT a resort. There is no pool as advertised. The beach is a 15 minute drive away. Our so called condo was supposed to accommodate 6; it uncomfortably accommodated 4... 2 small bedrooms... You had to walk through one to get to the single bathroom which smelled of mold and mildew. Our TV stopped working the second day... The elderly lady in charge could not fix it, so she let us "sign out" DVDs. Then the DVD player wouldn't work. The place is incredibly overpriced and not worth the money at all!!!!

This is a unfair review of our property. After all of the good reviews, there is bound to be one or two bad reviews eventually. As they say, "you can't please everyone."

While it is true the Direct TV went out on Sunday for all the units, this is beyond our control. We are at the mercy of Direct TV's repair schedule and they couldn't come out until the next day. When they did ALL the units had 145 channels! It turned out the heat caused a problem with the pole mounted electronics and the whole block was out! We did what we could by offering free DVDs, but now I find out that the customer couldn't operate the the DVD player! The customer NEVER called and the next guest in the room had no issues with the cable or DVD player.

The word Arrowhead Resort is a historical name from the 50's, if it were up to me we would change the name, but it is up to the 13 condo owners that jointly market the property as "Arrowhead Resort." When I think of the term "Resort," I think of Disney World--There are no resorts like Disney in Michigan! I think the condo owners are trying to respect the historical name, but I will pass along the suggestion.

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Kid friendly and still private, peaceful, lovely view and easy access to town. Staff was friendly and knolwedgeable. Walking or biking to town was easy and fun. So much to see, do, and experience. And Oval Beach is up there with Yost Van Dyke of the British Virgin islands! Summer at her best and we will return.

Saugatuck is a great town and it is really enhanced by businesses like Arrowhead. Remodeled room with great location and perfect for a family that needs a kitchen with children. The staff is wonderful and so knowlwdgeable! We will be back

We love coming to Arrowhead because it is so close to everything from shops to galleries, restaurants and the water! The condos are beautiful and have been remodeled recently. I agree that it is not a "resort," but there are no resorts in Saugatuck! It does have cable (hundreds of channels), internet, and the amenities are beautiful. It is our #1 place to stay in SSaugatuck

Nicest place in Saugatuck and we have stayed at many! I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about-we had granite, stainless appliances, hundreds of channels and internet! They are beautiful and the workers are awesome. It is not a resort, but lighten up--THERE ARE NOT RESORTS IN MICHIGAN

My family can't wait to go back later this summer!

First off, Arrowhead is far from being a resort. Arrowhead resort is falsely advertised. On several different websites, Arrowhead resort is described as having a pool, plasma tv, cable, dishwasher, granite countertops, and two bedrooms. The unit we stayed at did not have these luxuries. When we arrived, the unit was dirty and there was an old bar of soap and shampoo in the bathroom. We discovered that there was no pool on site. You had to get passes to go to some other resorts pool. There was no plasma tv. There was a small 19" old tube type tv mounted up in the ceiling which was about 20 feet away from the couch in the living room. There was no cable. There was about 10 channels to choose from. We have a three year old, so it would have been nice to have some cartoons for him to watch, especially since the DVD player didn't work. When we complained to the manager about the cable, he said the cable must be out. There were no granite countertops and no dishwasher. When we asked the manager about this, he said the resort rooms are privately owned, and the owners change things around a lot. I thought to myself, yeah right, why would the owners take out a dishwasher and granite countertops. The unit was described as a 2 bedroom unit that sleeps six. I don't how they can call it a 2 bedroom unit when you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the bathroom. Overall, I have nothing good to say about Arrowhead resort. I will never stay there again and the manager and staff are very rude. Any resort that charges over $300 a night should be as advertised and clean. I recommend not staying at Arrowhead resort unless you like getting ripped off.

There is no pool at Arrowhead, but we used to share one with another property. That property has since changed hands and we are no longer allowed to have guests use pool
