I read all the marvelous reviews and I am wondering if we are all talking about the same motel. We booked and prepaid for three days and left after two days (they stand firm on their policy not to return your money.)
That aside, it does not at all influence my opinion of the accommodations or service. This is a 1950 style roadside motel with painted cement block walls and cement floors. It may be a tad larger than 10 x 10 but not by much. The bathroom is about the size of a kitchen pantry and the shower is similar in size to a chimney stack.
We brushed the two cats aside crawling on the counter when we checked in; we missed this clue as a sign that the room might look clean but we were never quite convinced.
Renting a room or cottage in a popular vacation area for a an extended period you would expect no one would enter the room for housekeeping, etc. We were very surprised to be instructed to set our dirty towels outside the door should we wish fresh towels, along with the contents from our waste paper baskets.
There are very few national chain hotels to stay at in this area so apparently all the mom and pop inn's treat you like a house guest staying without charge rather than a paying guest accustomed to being treated at least like a Holiday Inn customer - especially when the nightly rates are the same or higher.
If charming is a step up from camping outside in a tent, you will love this place. However, if you like to be waited on a little and feel like your surroundings might be more than just looking clean, you might want to consider other options.
