“Great price, location and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

We called last minute and were told no problem a room is ready for us..Which was great on the road! It was a great price..right on the water with a beautiful view of the water, sand, gulls.. peaceful. We were moments from good places to eat, a little store for beer and snacks, and all the ferry lines to choose from. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fridge. The beds and pillows were great. A nice complimentary breakfast was waiting in the morning, and overall a very good experience! The pool and breakfast area are in separate buildings from the rooms, which was not big deal, but just an FYI. Would also like to recommend The Galley for dinner, and Star Line Ferry. Both great experiences! The whitefish at the Galley was fresh and wonderful, and it's cozy and old fashioned with nice staff.

The person working at the desk when we checked in was not particularly friendly. She was not very helpful to answer our questions about the area, and was kind of "here you go" with the keys and hotel information.

The view from the room can't be beat -- direct view of the sunrise over the lake. The location was great too, from hotel to Mackinaw ferry in about 2 minutes.

The room itself was clean, but nothing special. I wouldn't want to spend more than 1 night there (which was all we stayed for). It wasn't *bad*, it just wasn't all that good.

My hubby and I stayed here as I was doing a wedding on Mackinac Island. Our room was on the ground floor. We loved the view - watching the sunrise over the island such a beautiful sight! Room was reasonably comfortable....there is a mini fridge in the room and coffee maker, but no microwave. Breakfast area and lobby are in a separate building from the rooms, so be prepared for the short stroll up the hill. For breakfast there was the usual waffles, biscuits and gravy, yogurt and mini muffins. One morning the breakfast restocking was quite late....much had been gone for some time from what we observed. Over all it was OK. Nothing extraordinary in amenities nor service.

We stay here every year for our anniversary and this year we were very disappointed. We were given a room that was slightly better than a linen closet. The bed was comfortable, but the floor still had food crumbs on it and the in room heater had a lot of dead bugs on it. They said that they couldn't move us because they were full. When I talked to the manager in the morning, she asked if we reserved online, and said that they were full last night. When I told her that we would not come back, she just said "OK".

was able to get a special on line rate for a ground floor unit which opened on to the beach...was entertained by ducks, geese and seagulls. Room very clean and grounds well maintained. Would prefer to stay in St Ignace instead of Mackinaw city...overall a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: we didn't know they had elevators until we arrived but ground floor was fine.

This Quality Inn was a pleasant and welcome surprise. A sliding glass door in my room led to a small but private balcony with an enchanting view of Lake Michigan, just a few yards ahead. Ducks and other waterfowl clucked soothingly in the tall grasses along the beach. The room was both comfortable and clean. I did not have the breakfast, but it was included in the rate (which was about $80).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay this summer at this location. The view of the beach and sunrises were spectacular. We could just sit on the deck and enjoy. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The breakfast was just fine, too. The price was excellent. In fact, we will definitely come back. In the past we have stayed on the Island mostly, and once in Mac City. But this introduction to St. Ignace was wonderful. We are coming back.
