I write this because I am troubled by less than complimentary reviews I have seen. We stayed at the Bavarian Haus in mid-Sept during the tractor bridge crossing and show. The hotel and room was clean as a whistle and in fact I felt the room was larger than most without being a suite. Nice patio with view out to Mackinac Island which we really enjoyed. Nice to sit with a toddy and some snacks. This is not a new building, but that doesn't mean it is run down by any means. My only issue in the room was taken care of promptly and the desk staff was very courteous and genuinely councerned that we enjoy our stay. There are alot of choices along this stretch of road in St. Ignace and in my opinion, this property serves very well as a clean, pleasant place to stay.

It's obvious the local owners have worked very hard to upgrade and maintain this property which is wonderfully located on the shore of Lake Huron. It's a perfect spot to stay when visiting Mackinaw Island. The ferry leaves from the dock just down the street. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The front desk staff was very helpful. The pools and sauna were refreshing and again, sqeaky clean. The breakfast was adequate. We will definiely stay here again

From reservations made over the phone (very helpful with specials and discounts) to staff encountered during stay was impressed with friendly, helpful service. Room decor was dated but room was very clean and comfortable and the view more than made up for decor. Awesome view of water, beautiful sunrises, and only had to step of deck (first floor whirlpool room) to view fireworks in St Ignace. Almost felt like you were on a private island when you stepped out of room onto deck. Hardly ever heard noise from surrounding rooms even on nights no vacancy sign on. Pool area clean with seperate hot tub for adults although was located by inside entrance to office (not very private). Breakfast room could get busy but we took breakfast back to room, ate on deck and enjoyed boats on water. We stayed three nights and would definitley choose Bavarian Haus for future stays.

Arrived on 8/17/12. Three night stay. Keep in mind, this is an older hotel with cosmetic flaws. That said, the room was spacious, extremely clean, and very comfortable. Lots of pillows, soft towels, and a very comfortable bed. Plenty of storage space and a mini fridge. No microwave. Wonderful shower, plenty of water pressure. Free wi-fi. Balcony with chairs and a table. The view was incredible! Hotel staff were very friendly and courteous. Very budget and family friendly. I can't comment on the breakfast because we went to a couple of local restaurants for breakfast. This hotel was perfect for us, it offered everything we were looking for and more. (Didn't use the pool or exercise room) We took advantage of the ferry shuttle service. Loved the beach area and the chairs and swings. We were very pleased with the room and service and will definitely stay at the Bavarian Haus again when we return to St. Ignace.
