“Great service, excellent breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Excellent selection on the breakfast menu. Our group of 10 was seated and served without a delay. Orders were prompt and my friend especially liked the eggs benedict. Prices were very reasonable.

“SPECIAL SEAFOOD IN THE UPPER PENINSULA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Although St. Ignace is busy in summer for visitors to Mackinac Island it is a quiet outpost in the winter. We were thrilled to find both a clean hotel and a delicious dinner here in January. The Driftwood is comfortable, spacious and clean and rustic in decor. Since it was January and slow we had time to chat with the staff about life in northern Michigan. Since we love fresh local fish we were thrilled to find several Whitefish items on the menu. To begin with the "Rod and Reel" apetizer with both smoked Whitefish spread and fried Whitefish bites is not to be missed. We were thrilled with the Sizzlin' Shrimp, colossal shrimp like little lobster tails on a hot skillet with tender brocolli. But the real star of the menu was Whitefish baked on a maplewood plank, two full butterfly filets surrounded by tender vegetables and a ring of fluffly duchesse potatoes. The entire serving was the size of a turkey platter and we complained the waitress should have told us it was enough food for two. She advised us we might want to finish everything once we tasted it and she was right. The fish and potatoes were so light and luscious we couldn't stop. When the bill arrived I was thrilled to find my call brand Manhattan drink was half the price we pay in an east coast city. Altogether a memorable event in front of a fire place on a bitterly cold evening.

We are so glad that you were able to experience both our establishment, and the town of Saint Ignace during the quieter winter months. There is still much to do in the Straits Area during the off season. We are happy to hear that your meal and guest room were to your liking. It is always nice when we are able to share with our customers what it is like to live in Northern Michigan, as much of our staff is lived here there whole lives, and really love it here. Thank you so much for your patronage, it is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you again really soon.

“Great stop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We are in town for a couple of days and went last night to the Driftwood at the suggestion from a local. We were pleasantely pleased with both the service and the quality of the food! I had developed a bad cold, so had to rely on my husband to tell me how everything tasted. He raved! That is unusual:-) We will go back tonight, and I am hoping that I will be able to taste the food!

“I'm Trying To Like This Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

We picked up a newspaper and found an ad for the Driftwood. It indicated they would be closed for a remodel but the bar would be be open at 5 PM. The specials included $2 draft beer and $2 well drinks. The service was great. I have reiterated this many times on this site. The beer was cold the well drinks were great, but when we asked for the bill, the draft beer was $3 and the well drink, $3.50.
