“Good for Mackinaw on a budget.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

Stayed two nights in the Inn. One morning did not have hot water, but could hear someone else's shower running, so maybe it's all about timing.
It was not glamorous, but we had a good nights sleep. It made going to Mackinaw in the summer on a weekend doable without breaking the bank.

Our family stayed in four cabins here to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. The cabins are OK, nothing luxurious, but clean. Our cabin had 2 double beds, a wall unit air conditioner, a small bathroom (we called it a Hobbit bathroom, Hobbit sized shower, Hobbit sized towels, Hobbit sized mirror!) however we did appreciate having an indoor toilet and private shower, and a small refrigerator. Our cabin was cleaned, beds made and new towels provided every day. They have picnic tables available, so we pulled one over to the back of our cabins to use as a family dining table. My parents had a very small kitchenette in their cabin and they provide a grill so we cooked and ate some of our meals here. The hot water was better in some of the cabins than some of the others. The cabins are RIGHT on the highway, so if road noise bothers you, stay somewhere else. The cabins are not connected to each other, so people noise was not a problem. They do have a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan right across the highway, though.

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in St. Ignace, this place is great. While it is not the Ritz it was a very cozy cabin that really gave us the "Up North" feel. We stayed there for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend and the price was the best deal we could find in the area. The cabin was cleaned daily, which was a nice touch.

As with most weekends in the straights area, most places were booked or way overpriced for the value of stay. Pointe La Barbe Inn had cancellation to my luck and I got snag it up for an amazing rate.

The cabin looked quite small from the outside, however once inside it was amazing. The inside was perfect with the old cable construction that made it feel like the U.P. The room had a mini fridge and I think it had a microwave which made staying for a couple nights pleasant. The fact that the cabins are not connected together there is no noise transfer from one room to the next which is absolutely wonderful.

If I am ever in the straights area again I will without a doubt look to Pointe La Barbe.
