“Many Stays Here, always look forward to it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2010

We have stayed here many times. The owners, Lisa and Mike are like friends. Very clean; knotty pine rooms are so relaxing; real quilts on the beds, comfortable, etc. It is not "chain motel" fancy, it is simply nice, clean and just like home. We tow a boat and they always have room, off street, for us to park it. We like the motel so much that we plan our annual Canadian trip to spend the night here, both going and comming. The shower stalls are a tad tight, but I still manage get a good wake up shower.

Usually, when we visit the Mackinaw City area, we stay in Mackinaw City. This time we decided to save a little money and stay in St. Igance instead. Overall, we were glad we gave St. Ignace a try and will probably be staying there again.

The pace is definitely slower in St. Ignace, with not nearly as many tourists as Mackinaw City, and this is reflected in the price of a night's stay. Most of the non chain hotel in St. Ignace are priced $30-$40 lower than in Mackinaw City. However, you do need to factor in the high tolls on the bridge when comparing prices. It is $3.50 each way across the bridge. Therefore, every time you want to go back into Mackinaw City it will cost you $7.00

We paid $55 + tax for a room with a king sized bed. We thought that was a pretty good deal for a Saturday night stay in Northern Michigan, during the summer

The motel's exterior was in great shape and seemed pretty new. The interior of the room was very clean and done in a Northern woods decor, with knotty wood paneling and antique lumberjack saws and camping gear hanging from the walls. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well with the fan turned on the AC/Heater unit.

Our biggest complaint was the size of the bathroom. It is a tight fit and the modular shower unit is a tad bit clausterphobic and not well lit.

This motel does not have online booking but does have a website. You will need to call the motel to book. Breakfast mainly consists of pre-wrapped donuts and pastries and coffee, that you can take out of the motel office.

One tip to reaching this motel quickly, if coming on Northbound I-75, is to get off at the second St. Ignace exit (348) instead of the first St. Ignace exit (344). The motel is much closer to the second exit.

Our stay at the evergreen was one of the best experiences we have had. The rooms are spaciouus, clean, and the newly remoldeled knotty pine was a nice touch. Proprieotors, Mike and Lisa were great hosts and I would recommend their motel to anyone. I plan on returning this year and look forward to the trip.

Sincerely, Stuart Barnes (Fort Wayne, IN)

This is the second time we have stayed at the Evergreen and it was just as nice as the first time. We often travel to this region of Michigan to enjoy the natural beauty and the many activities that it has to offer. The Evergreen is a well run smaller Motel with great rooms, comfortable beds and many small touches to make you feel right at home. And did I mention,it is CLEAN!! The Hagars that own the Evergreen have done and excellent job in restoring this gem to standards that are often not found in bigger chain hotels. If you want to enjoy yourself, relax and just have a pleasant time, we would strongly urge to bypass many of the other choices and swing into the Evergreen!
