The hotel is quite tired and obviously in need of renovation. The rooms were adequate but the bed not very comfy and pillows hard. We had problems in the bathroom of bedroom 3 as the shower didnt work and hand shower tube was also broken. I will say it was repaired within minutes of advising reception.

The reception area is a bit muddled and bar quite dark.

Overall for what we paid as Groupon guests we certainly had value for money. The food was adequate and plentiful & some home cooked. Breakfast was also ok.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms were in the courtyard and very quiet

My concerns mainly relate to room 3.This is a large dark room with an old dark red rucked up carpet with chewing gum ground in.The bedding and furniture are dark .The room has an unpleasant odour even with all windows open upon arrival. This was reported to the owner. A request was made for another room but none were available. An attempt was made to refresh the room but it simply masked the odour with one equally unpleasant. In an hotel I expect the bed to be made each day , bathroom cleaned and beverages restocked.( beverage restock was offered at the door) The gravel drive runs alongside the room so no quiet night until after closing time that is either 10pm or midnight.Overall a quite depressing room.
The en suite with no window or extractor fan requires attention not only to cleaning.Floor tiles very dirty behind door and along under radiator. Floor tiles uneven in front of basin and poorly applied in areas around fixtures and fittings. The bath plug did not work, the tap shower hose was broken but the shower on the wall worked well. Why leave a dirty broken shower hose in place? The bath panel was also broken.

It is along time since I have stayed in either a hotel or guest house that does not offer an alternative to a full English breakfast i.e a continental breakfast. If you were not in favour of a cooked breakfast it was cereal and toast.

Being on a Groupon this was not an expensive break but had I paid the full amount i would have been more than a little disappointed.

Room a good size but beds really the worst we have ever experienced. Too low and mattress of very poor quality. Food was ok but service and staff attitude was very poor. There was a wedding on the Friday night we were there and all the wedding guests proceeded to traipse through the dinning room whilst we were eating and we were treated as second class guests at that point. Quite a lot of noise from the wedding after "do" when we wre told it would not affect our room. The whole of the main building and pond area needs a complete makeover, even the front door needed a coat of paint!!
Hot water in ensuite was enough to burn the skin and out of 5 lights in the room 3 had bulbs that did not work. The curtain rail was broken and slats were missing out of the window blinds. Pity really about the detail as with a little TLC it could be ok. We would not stay here again and I would certainly NOT contemplate having my kids wedding there.

My mother and I had found this Holiday on the internet using a Groupon Voucher. We Loved every minute of our 3 night stay. Lovely room with ample space and a gorgeous view of the Garden...
It has honestly felt as we had been staying with friends for a few days and I am already looking forward to our next visit!
I was very impressed with the evening meals (which came included in the voucher cost) they were very tasty and I certainly never went to bed hungry! I loved that breakfast was self service as depending on how hungry I was or what I fancied, you can pick what you want with no fuss at all. I really feel that Elm Farm has a truly lovely atmosphere inside and out...
As a Loving Dog owner, one of the best parts of our trip was that we could bring our dogs along, this took a huge amount of stress away from worrying how they were doing at home and they were welcomed just as much as we were. Nothing was ever too much trouble and you were always greeted with a smile. Many thanks to Steve and his team for such a wonderful break. Xx

Commencing a 3 night stay via Groupon, we arrived at the property to find it was NOT as described in their web page. Staff commented-'O you're Groupon' felt second rate, on both dining nights other customers were treated in a poor way when it came to service in the dining area.. The room was at least 20 years old and it really showed. The food was really poor, 2 courses for £10 (in offer) old and limited menu, we only managed 2 evening meals and found a really good pub/restaurant 1/4 mile away in the village. Breakfasts were a good English, but Tea was just a 'topped up pot, using the old T bags! I wanted to share my views on the morning of departure, but the owner had locked the building and I had to drop key through the letterbox. Bed uncomfortable, shower/bathroom grubby, curtains came straight off rail (no stops) no extra bedding/pillow. 3 coat hanger in wardrobe. The owners bought in 2007, it feels like they struggle to understand their customer. The bar area has locals watching SKY football, gaming machines and 'delight' Bingo! They need to get residents a better deal.

Room Tip: Wait for the other pub to finish building their accommodation block!
