Reserved all inclusive package one night and leaving the car (flying out at Metro next day). When arrived my bill was $50 over the quote given over the phone, the explanation given at the desk was stupid -- it cost more because I didn't book over the internet. I called the hotel directly was transfered to reservations and reserved the package and was quoted a lower price. My downfall was they promised to email confirmation of my reservation and didn't do this so I had no hard copy to prove the price quoted over the phone. As a gold priority member decided to stay and use points and rather than pay cash. It cost 25,000 points for my room and I paid $35 for the parking. At that rate of points I was to have executive privileges but told the lounge was not open. They did not put me on a special floor yet charged me a high number of points that would get me 2 nights in a standard holiday inn. All of this I blew off and would not be complaining if I slept through the night. Unfortunately, I did not sleep the entire night the other guests on the floor were talking loudly in the hallway all night and morning - we heard the slamming of doors throughout the night - I called the desk to complain about 2am. They did not monitor or control the noise to any degree because I continued to hear it - and finally gave up sleeping and got ready at 4:00am. My purpose of a nice rest before my flight never happened - I am upset about my botched reservation, room location, lack of sleep and plan to call to gain back some of my proirity points. Believe me I've had plenty of great nights at Holiday Inn express compared to this place.

  • Liked — location - clean- bed
  • Disliked — poor security (noise control)

My son and I just stayed here for two extra nights after visiting the Henry Ford Museum. It was absolutely lovely and emaculately clean. We enjoyed all of the amneties and even though there were several conference groups there, everything remained quiet. I must say that the conference rooms and lounges looked beautiful. There are ample serene places in the lobby area to sit, relax and enjoy the soft music and ambience. Wireless internet access was impressively throughout the hotel. The pool area was equally as nice and the hot tub was just that, nice and hot. The food in the Bistro was excellent even though a little pricey, although room service hours were very accomodating. Leondardo's is directly across the street if you want great Italian food and BigBoy is directly next door if you want inexpensive meals (the shuttle can take you). There are plenty of other restaurant choices north of Merriman on Ford Rd or Warren, just ask for directions. The hotel shuttle was right on que for everyone needing transportation to eateries and the airport. I heard no audible complaints and I really don't have many myself. One of the exceptions being the desk clerks did not explain *all* of the extra amenties we were entitled to since we were on the Executive Concierge Floor, however they were still pleasant and professional. (nice little private perks that we had to discover ourselves and missed out on the first day). So all was wonderful however may I suggest that when you do check in, you *ask* what the amneties are since this information doesn't seem to be offered, nor is baggage help offered. (That was not the Hotel's fault but merely the tired porters who watched us struggle). Our room was spotless and the view from the 11th floor was fun at night, watching the planes come in and go out. Lovely, spacious bathrooms. Excellent bedding. Room service trays were promptly removed from the halls. And oh yes, one more suggestion for the Hotel itself.... please consider installing automatic hall deoderizers on smoking floors. When we used our card to access the private floor, the odor of wet ashtrays did hit us as soon as the doors opened. The hotel store had convenient hours and everything was fairly priced. I find this one of the best DTW hotels to stay in. Just be prepared to "ask" for baggage help, question desk clerks and please, carry room deoderizers. The floor and room odor wasn't horrible, but it wasn't pleasant. The positives FAR outweigh the slight negatives. We will definately stay here again.

Check in was quick, although the clerk didn't offer any information about the property, i.e., pool hours, restaurant location and hours, room service, etc. The rooms were nice and large. The hotel was occupied by a LARGE family hosting a reunion. The pool was filled with family members and very crowded and loud. The weight room, although ample with equipment, was a hang out for the teenagers of the reunion party. All the machines were occupied by teens sitting around. There was no one from the hotel enforcing the "no children" posting in the weight room. There was an "adult" swim offered from 10 - 11 on weekend nights although the hotel didn't enforce that either. The reunion party used the pool (with all their children) right up until closing. The hotel pool was then closed on Sunday until NOON due to maintenance. This was incredibly disapponting as we booked this hotel for the amenities offered, but never got a chance to use them. The airport noise was very minimal (and actually it was quite neat to see the the planes fly overhead from our window). However, the hallway noise was terrible. We could hear conversations in the hallway crystal clear with our door shut. The hotel has some pipe and/or roof leaks and had buckets on the floor, which hopefully they will fix soon. I don't think I'd stay here on a weekend again, but might consider a week night.

Stayed here the night before a flight. I am a priority club member so I made the initial choise of the Crowne Plaza based on that and reviews here. I was not disappointed. I did stay on the upper level which is priority club rooms. The room was spotless. One of the nicest cleanist rooms I have ever stayed in , anyplace.

Staff at this hotel were great. Friendly, and easy to deal with. Polite and helped in everyway possible and ansered every question without one trace of attitude ever.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. I cannot think of one negative!

Stayed here unexpectedly when our flight home, after being in Europe, was cancelled due to thunderstorms. We were not alone, as many other travelers found themselves at this hotel - tired, anxious, and without luggage. The front desk - at 11pm - was wonderfully hospitable - the room was lovely, well appointed, and clean - also very quiet. We left too early to have breakfast, but there was hot coffee in the lobby - and a quick bus to the airport. These folks are doing a stand up job.
