“Sleep, Park, Fly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

After lots of reviews and price comparisons, we chose Fairfield Inn and Suites at the Detroit Airport. We were arriving after a 2 hour drive from Ontario and wanted a park, sleep, fly option for the beginning of the trip since we were leaving for Vegas on a 7:30a.m. flight. I was going to print the online coupon, but eventually the hotel website offered the same deal.

Hotel was easy to find after doing some shopping in the Taylor area. Check in was quick and easy. Staff was very friendly. We were going to adventure for dinner before leaving the car next door at Qwikpark for our trip, but decided to go to the pub that was walking distance to the hotel. The food was very good, btw.

Parked car in Qwik park. We wanted to walk back, but they don't allow that. So we shuttled back for the 30 second ride.

Room was very clean.

There is a complimentary continental breakfast. Some food items were available for the early risers (shuttle was for 5:30 to aiport) since the regular warm breakfast is not available until 5:30. Bagel and juice was enough for us at that hour.

Shuttle was prompt, and efficient.

Front desk staff was extremely helpful when I wanted to print my boarding pass and the computer was not allowing the pop up to do so. Staff was very helpful and knew the trick to bypass this.

I have stayed at this Fairfield Inn before and really enjoyed it. But this time something was not right, and I feel I should add this to my previous review of this inn. Although the room was very clean, somewhat roomy, and the amenities were very good, the complaint I have is that there is no way to shut the door to any room quietly. Every time someone went in or out of their room, the door would make a loud, even VERY loud clank as the locking mechanism connected. As for the quietness of the room itself, it was quiet. Even the planes coming in for a landing were muffled to a good extent. But Fairfield Inn needs to correct the problem of the door mechanisms, and make them quieter.

Our flight out of Detroit was scheduled for a 6am departure, and since we live 3 hours away from the airport we decided to drive in the night before and stay in a hotel near the airport. We have done this several times, but this was the first time we had stayed at the Fairfield Inn.
The convenience of the Qwik Park facility being right next door and the reasonable pricing made me pick this location. We arrived around 8pm and did a quick check in to get the keys - I had high hopes for our room when I saw how clean and bright the lobby was. hallways all well maintained and the elevator was clean as well. Our room was smallish, but perfectly suited to our needs, and most importantly it was very clean! The bathroom was a good size - we were both able to get ready at the same time in the morning - and they have all the travel soaps, hair products, and a coffee maker. We heard a couple planes, but they weren't all that loud - I would say as loud as if a car passed by your house, so considering how close you are to the runways that is pretty decent sound proofing!
As I said we have stayed at other hotels near the DTW airport, but this will be my solid choice from here on out - much much better and for about the same cost....
When we checked out at just before 4am the bar breakfast wasn't open yet, but they did have the coffee and juices available for us early rising guests - very appreciated!
Quick note on the staff - both at check in and check out they were smiling, friendly, and very very quick - big thank you for that!

We were trying to find a hotel that had queen beds (instead of double) and complimentary breakfast in Dearborn. This was difficult, so we opened our search to the area and found this hotel. It was an easy drive, so we tried it.
The hotel was nice. The room was comfortable. Beds were a little hard, but ok. There was a great variety for breakfast. The pool was good. The staff was helpful.
When we arrived, I could hear airplanes (duh, we're next to the airport). So I was concerned that it would be a problem, but it wasn't.
We'd stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor (3rd) and it was pretty quiet.

I stayed here for one night on business. The price was great, the hotel was clean, and the location was solid. Staff was nice, and the free breakfast wasn't too bad.
My only complaint would be the pool area. Didn't actually look like the pictures I had seen on their website. Could use some updating.
Good overall.

The room they placed us in was awesome. Living area and bedroom with a half partition wall with a tv in each room. Room also provided a fridge and microwave. One thing is that the bathroom only had a shower so might be a problem for people with families, however wasn't a problem for my wife and I. Staff was great, shuttle service was prompt and the breakfast was your standard breakfast with other options nearby if needed (Big Boys/McDonalds/Bob Evans) etc.

No real complaints. A couple comments: The room could have used an armchair. Also, the entrance is almost hidden by a Quik Park or something. A sign right on Merriman would be helpful. The jet noise wasn't a concern; I was never awakened by it.
