We were visiting our son that lives in the area, and I'm always looking for a new place to try. Following the reviews on the net, we decided to go here and check it out. Especially because it was clear the owners are very much involved in running their restaurant. So off we went and had dinner. Was easy to find, at Centre and Oakland in Portage. Upon entering, right away, good vibes, nice greeting by host and loved the setting and table and we were allowed to pick our own table! niceeee... so we got a booth and ordered our dinner. Our Waitress Kelsey was very cheerful and helpful and attentive. EVerything clicking and the fun is just starting... ooohhhhhhhh the coffee is soooo goood... so fresh... Im liking this... I LOVE coffee and I could tell this was above average grade stuff.... Meanwhile, Rolls arrive, with our soups. Wife got a cowboy chilli and I got a chowder... and..... the rolls are warm and the butter melts over them beautifully and the taste .... heaven... the chowder... more heaven... delicious truly... ohhh THIS is good food... the wifes cowboy chilli... just delicious.... these folks know how to cook and prepare food... Its obvious to us from looking at this place and the menu and now tasting the food, portage is very fortunate to have a jewel of a restaurant like this here in their town. My son ordered ribs and loved them.. I got to taste them and loved the flavor.... and then the wifes salmon dish and my cajun catfish and sides.... were just delicious.... it was cajun/mardi gras theme at the restaurant and I wish i could have tried some of the other options too... The food just looked wonderful.... then dessert was offered and as much as I tend to decline, they had key lime pie... shaaaazaaaammmmmm was that tasty or WHAT! my mouth is watering now thinking about it... the flavor was soooo good and strong, not diluted or weak, it was key lime pie, we could have been at key west! now... the wife loves tiramisu ....and when Kelsey said they had it... of course ... one please... well it was very well presented but it was unique. It wasn't quite like traditional Tiramisu, with the candied bacon on top, but it was still delicious, just not her favorite tiramisu. I have to agree with the positive reviews. Not all restaurant food is served equally by any means. It can all like we fix at home or just a treat, but this place... this food..is special...it is just delicious... reminds me of food you might see on a cooking competition on television... It just can't be compared to a chain restaurant... I'll add this... we have been to many "fancy" restaurants, in the big cities, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Key West...and you really wont necessarily find food any better then this generally... and pay much more... Well done Full City Cafe, your hard work and effort at having delicious food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere...is a total success. We will be back.... I can't wait in fact..... oh I went ahead and attached some pictures of the desserts.. wish I had cleared the clutter... :(... regardless... nice eh?? :)
