“The ONLY place to stay in Petoskey!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2010

Once again, it was a real pleasure to return to the Stafford's Perry Hotel in Petoskey with the Seniors on my motorcoach tour in June. The Perry is my hotel of choice whenever I do a tour to Northern Michigan, several times to Mackinac Island in the past, but this time to the Petoskey/Charlevoix area only. The historic Perry Hotel is beautiful and well maintained. All the rooms are charming and each is unique; the location on the bay is very scenic, the million dollar sunsets are spectacular; the food is exceptional, and the service at this hotel is absolutely impeccable. My group of Senior Citizens and I spent three wonderful nights at The Perry, enjoyed a delightful dinner here as well as the Bay View Inn and the Weathervane, other Staffords' properties. The rooms were ready on time, the bell staff did a great job hustling our luggage to our rooms, the dinner was exceptional, and again, the overall service at this property is impeccable. Why on earth would anyone visit Petoskey and NOT stay here??

My wife and I had a couple days free on her spring teaching break so we drove up to Petoskey for one night, our first time there. A very nice town, cute shops, some nice sounding restaurants. We were totally happy with our stay at Stafford's Perry Hotel. It is downtown, but very accessible, and has views from the rooms and dining room over Little Traverse Bay and out toward Lake Michigan. It is a wonderful historic hotel, but is so clean and well-maintained. The lobby is very large and attractive, from the fireplace sitting area on one end, to the main stairway to the 3 floors of the hotel (and the lower floor which has check-in, a small gift shop, and Noggins Pub), to a lobby bar with drinks and coffee and then to the dining room off the other end of the lobby. The Rose dining room is very attractive and has large windows facing the bay.

Our room (310) was very nice and large, beautifully furnished, and although the bathroom is quite small, was nicely designed with lots of counter space. We had a balcony overlooking the bay. Only one chair is in the room but we found another chair down the hall we could use to sit together and look at the water.

The Noggin Pub is a good place for a drink and a meal (full menu). The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a walk around town right outside our door. There is a nice library room for reading or games on the 3rd floor. We got a $20 breakfast coupon and breakfast in the dining room with the beautiful view was almost free with the coupon.

We had a great one-night stay and would definitely stay there again if we ever return to the Petoskey area.

I went up to Petoskey for a business meeting and stayed at the Stafford's Perry for two nights. Was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, the service was good and the downtown location was very nice. Only complaint would be the walls seemed a litlle thin.

Stafford's Perry was fun.

Please understand - THIS IS A HISTORIC HOTEL. That means it's OLD. They've done a fine job maintaining and updating it, but it's a historic hotel. Please don't whine that it isn't a brand new Westin. It isn't.

My room was a nice size. Wallpaper is intentionally old school. Bathroom was very nicely updated. Lobby was fine. Staff were very nice. Parking right there.

The hotel is in the middle of Petoskey's historic Gas Light district - plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

My room had a lovely view of Litte Traverse Bay. Very nice.

All in all, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat...

50 characters isn't enough for this wonderful hotel. The location, a block from the shops and dining of main street, sitting up on a hill overlooking the bay, is perfect. The rooms are pretty and well appointed. The staff is the high point - they are unfailingly friendly. It's clear the management encourages attention to detail: repainting a column, which to my eye looked fine, the gardeners removing spent flowers from the rose bushes of their beautiful grounds. 4th year we've stayed here - Wonderful!

We chose this hotel as a place to spend our anniversary. It was very clean. We had an Arlington room, which is more of a suite than a room. The bathroom was very tiny. The balcony and view was wonderful, but a little cold due to it still being early spring. The decor is very Victorian floral, in keeping with the age of the hotel. The H.O. Rose restaurant was only open for breakfast, but it was terrific, we were sorry that it was not open for dinner. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The only complaints we had were the extremely loud plumbing and being able to hear every footstep in the room above us. Those aren't really a problem unless it is 2 a.m. The other thing to keep in mind, is that this is a resort town, so many shops and restaurants do not open until mid/late May. We were disappointed in that. Otherwise, the hotel was lovely, and we would stay again.

Beautiful charming building, great staff, in a great location overlooking Lake Michigan. The Noggin Room pub is a really nice place to have a drink, very relaxed, with simple food and good beers on tap. Service was great. Room nicely furnished, with breathtaking views over the Lake. Superb breakfast. The hotel seemed to me very clean, nicely furnished, and good value, so much better than staying at some bland roadside motel.
