My Husband and I have dined at The Sage three times now over the last few years. It always remains a 5-Star experience which is not common in this are of Northern Michigan. The menu has unique Chef designed dishes with a variety that will please everyone. You don't come to the Sage to expect a normal steak or grilled chicken but a delicious Chef designed dish that is full of flavors deliciously prepared to give you an exceptional dining experience. This is out-of-the-box dining where it is difficult to decide what to eat because you want to try it all, Lamb, Duck, and assorted Fish among the Beef, Pork and Chicken selections, do not expect a normal plate, the beautifully displayed, appetizing, mouth-watering display of food that is placed in front of you with its aroma .... you now know why you are eating at the Sage. The Wait Staff have impeccable etiquettes from introductions, to assisting with food selections - explaining how the plate is prepared, to advising on how best to order the doneness or a palatte complimenting side dish, to describing the appetizer ingredients... just a wonderful experience for someone like us that are not familiar with Chef prepared dishes. You do not get the feeling of being talked down to, but instead of a "allow me" or "let me tell you how its prepared/cooked", really nice people to help you enjoy your dining experience, that seems to be their genuine goal, to have you enjoy your meal and it shows. For us the Sage is PRICEY, $100 easily for 2 and that is without 'adult' drinks, however we both had a 4 or 5 course dinner and left pleasantly full (not over-stuffed) and full of conversation about our dishes that we ate. Dessert was a bit disappointing but I was there for the main meal, not the fruit compote dessert. The atmosphere is quiet (amazingly being that its inside a casino), there is a piano, not being played when we were there, but I'm told that a pianist plays dinner music certain nights. There is assorted artwork of paintings displayed on the walls and there is a glass window wall offering a good view of sky and outside, that's where we sit. I have reccommended the Sage to friends and will continue to, especially when they say there is "no fine dining in Petoskey". I look forward to the next time I dine with my Husband at the Sage for another deliciously unique meal with wonderful people to help me with my decision making. Well worth the money.
