“Standard rooms with convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We've always stayed in the basement with a view of the lake (and roof of building next door). Rooms are standard size with fairly soft beds. Bath towels a bit thin. Friendly staff, coffee always available in lobby. Variety of breakfast items available - waffles, scrambled eggs, cereal oatmeal, muffins, juices. Preferred the lower table in the breakfast area versus the new bar height table. Easy and close drive to downtown Petoskey.

This is a wonderful location and if you are lucky enough to get a view of the bay it is even better. The service is always warm and friendly. Thanks Hampton for your customer service. The rooms are large enough and although nothing special, the warm and inviting social areas in the hotel are very nice. Breakfast was as expected for most hotels in this catagory, but for fruit lovers it leaves a little something to be desired, everyone does not want to carb load in the morning. All in all I would definately stay again.

Room Tip: Bay side window

We stated for one night. Carrie at the front desk was awesome. Gave us an upgrade on our room and the view was great. Nice location and pool was nice. It was just a little hot in there. Breakfast area was nicely decorated and staff kept it clean and well stocked.

The only negative thing was the beds were very uncomfortable.

I stayed here four nights last week for business trip. My second stay at this property. New upgrade to dining area is very nice but halls and guest rooms need attention. Carpets are dirty and there is visible dust/dirt in corners just outside guest rooms. Upon check-in, I was struck by foul odor in room and had to request housekeeping replace one of the comforters as it was clearly the source of the odor. Had early morning departure (5:15) to catch flight and no one was at front desk to provide receipt. Finally noticed slip of paper on the counter saying they had slipped away temporarily. I then tried calling on cell phone and could hear phone ringing and ringing but no one answered. What if this had been an emergency? There is only one elevator in this hotel and it is painfully slow. On the plus side, beds are very comfortable and bathroom was clean. Staff are very friendly. They need help and support from corporate side to upgrade this property. It is overpriced for the value.

We stayed at this property for one night on a 6 night vacation - every night in a different location/hotel. This hotel had one of the prettiest views, but not high on clean. Our room had a gorgeous view of the bay, but the bathroom just didn't feel clean. All of the carpets - hall and rooms were really stained, needed a good shampooing. We live in a cold climate, and realize carpets get dirty from snow and mud, but this just looked pretty dirty. The beds were clean in our room, however - I passed a lady in the hall asking a housekeeper if they could get a clean comforter because theirs was dirty. And apparently she had asked the prior day.
Breakfast was average, but included, so no complaints. A wonderful guest laundry.
We loved Petoskey - beautiful views, plenty of places to eat and shop. I hope this hotel gets room reno's and gets better help or training for housekeeping. This would be a hotel I would like to return to, but not as it is.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view - it's beautifu!

We found the staff and the accommodations very nice for our family of 4. A good value for the price and a good location from which to explore the area. The breakfast was a nice bonus and the coffee in the lobby was also. The room smelled fresh and it was clean. The AC unit ran quietly and the room was soundproof.

We stayed here for one night. We asked for a room with 2 queen beds. The only room available of the type was on the basement level. The room was very dirty. The couch looked like someone barfed all over it. We didn't want to even sit on it. The bathroom had some sort of film on the door that I couldn't figure out. Luckily we had Clorox Wipes to clean things up so they were useable. Also the A/C was not always working and there were places on the wall where pictures should be but the pictures were gone. I would not recommend this hotel. Maybe the above ground floors are better.
