“Still a great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here since American Spoon first opened their restaurant. Though they no longer serve dinner, the restaurant is still known for its locally sourced ingredients. Our cottage guest had never been before, although he remembered the pints of gelato that we kept in the freezer from his visit five years ago. We all had the American Spoon breakfast and the local eggs and bacon did not disappoint; the sourdough toast and preserves were excellent and the new potatoes were just right. Even though we are in our late sixties we enjoy the alternative music mix that is played at a level that is never annoying. We had a leisurely breakfast where there were more waitstaff than customers.

“Just stopped for gelato, a little taste of Italy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

We stopped twice this week when in town to get gelato for desert. Over 20 flavors that are all delicious. Try the strawberry mint and raspberry.

“American Spoon forked us over!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

Arrived at 1:30 on Sunday afternoon and was surprised at the sparse amount of patrons that were in the once bustling restaurant. After reading the prices on the menu and the limited selections I began to understand the lack of customers. When this place first opened there was always a wait to be seated for lunch. I paid $14 for a roast pork sandwich on a mini ciabatta roll and a side salad consisting of 5 green beans and 2 radish slices and half of a cherry tomato. In addition the service was slow and my plate was never cleared and the check was delivered before I finished eating. I can not recommend as I feel American Spoon is terribly overpriced and nothing special.

“Great choice for light lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

Saturday lunch was busy but we were seated right away. Ordered two sangria's which were delicious. Decided to split a whitefish sandwich which came with fingerling potato salad. Both were very fresh and tasty. That left room to split a gelato, so many flavors but we had hazelnut w. Chocolate chips. great lunch, waiter was very good, just noisy inside.

“Beware”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

This restaurant is in a lovely setting and is clean and comfortable, but the food is "unusual" and our waiter said we couldn't order it with any exceptions. I ordered a turkey sandwich and did not want the salad dressing, fruit preserves and salty ham that came on it . . . I was told I could only have it the way the chef "created and balanced the flavors." There was NOTHING else on the limited menu that appealed to me, so I ordered the turkey and tried to remove the rich, oily salad dressing, jam and ham.. The bread was drenched in it. Our two sandwiches and two iced teas with tax and tip cost almost $40 and wasn't at all good. Also, the service is slow
