“Excellent service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We arrived 15 min early for our reservation but were seated right away. The service was excellent the whole dinner. The server was attentive but not overdoing it. We had an asparagus salad, chicken dinner which was delicious, pecan pie and a few cocktails for two people which was about 125.00! Not bad! If you go, request a table by the window if possible and maybe you'll be on time for the great sunset view over the bay.

“Good fine dinning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Had dinner with wife and son. Expensive but high quality food. The service was very good and our food was excellent. We got to watch the sunset over the bay and ran a rather large bill but felt it was worth it. I would recommend it to my friends.

“Food quality uneven”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Our large group ate here in early February 2013. We had reservations and were seated upstairs in two long tables. The decor and ambience were very good. Our service was good, with one waitress per table, devoted only to our group.
The bad news, and I really hate to be the bearer, is the food. I do praise the chef, John Norman, for an inventive menu. It was quite impressive. I had two small plates: the pan fried potato gnocchi with bolognese sauce which was fantastic. I also had two huge pan-seared sea scallops with white bean bacon ragout and sage pea sauce, also fantastic. The scallops were perfectly cooked. My dining companions also enjoyed the linguine and (huge) meatballs, the warm chopped pita bread salad, the beef tenderloin (a large portion), and the seared pepper crusted tuna. The disappointments were: the thin crust classic Margherita pizza with fresh basil, mozzarella, pecorino romano. My friend described it as like eating dry crackers with a bit of topping. My husband ordered the paprika crusted salmon. He was asked how he wanted it cooked. He asked what she meant, and she said "we can cook it anywhere from raw to well done." He said "medium," by which he meant cooked just to the point of perfection, which is how every restaurant should serve salmon. It came back overcooked.
But the real deal killer was the rice dish entree some of our vegetarian friends ordered off the menu. It was a total disaster. Nothing more than rice with tomato sauce with a few sparse vegetables scattered in. According to them, it tasted even worse than it sounds.

“Always a pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We're locals who always enjoy the magnificent view of Little Traverse Bay, the personable servers, who know the food, the regional microbrews, and the inventive food presentations. Vegetarians will not suffer with such a varied menu. Plus you can make excellent meals from the wide variety of small plate offerings. The mushroom bisque, caprese salad and Margherita pizzas are can't go wrong choices.
