Description: The Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant is located in the Historic Association of Bay View, established in 1875. The Inn was built in 1910 and opened in 1911..and has been serving the public and Bay View residents continually since then. There are 37 rooms to choose from, and breakfast is included with your stay. Packages are available which include dinner, and the Inn hosts theme weekends throughout the year. The restaurant serves fresh, home cooked food, and uses local ingredients whenever possible. The rooms are available most of the year, except March when the Inn closes. Bay View cottages are open only May through October. Bay View is part music-campus..part small town..actually a village within the city limits of Petoskey, a quaint resort town built along the Little Traverse Bay. Lots to do year round..

“The best experience of yesteryears!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

This was our first visit at the Terrace Inn. We always wanted to stay there each time we drove by the area and finally on our 44th wedding anniversary we experienced the charm , the old fashioned feeling of yesteryears. We enjoyed the terrace for breakfast and dinner and the front porch to soak up the ambience of the place and it's location within the Bay View Association.

My wife thoroughly enjoyed the planked whitefish and the terrace inn salad on the outside terrace overlooking the grounds. We skipped the dessert as we were full.

To us the location of the Inn within the Bay View village , the setting, the terrace, the porch with it's comfy chairs and the lobby with it's old but comfy furniture and the live music on one of our nights by two young ladies was very relaxing and set the mood for our enjoyment.

If you want to experience the feeling of the past, go there.

“The BEST cherry pie ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

On my first visit to the Terrace Inn, I was greeted by the owner, who was very gracious and inviting. The service was wonderful, and the food was excellent! We had caprese salad followed by the planked whitefish dinner and then homemade cherry pie made from local cherries. Although the cherry crop suffered this year, the Terrace Inn was able to locate some before the drought. If you eat here, you must try the pie!

“Distinct and Individual, but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

The Terrace Inn is quite charming and the location is lovely and quiet in the Bay View Neighborhood but as the reviewer noted, maybe a bit nursing home feel. All the rooms are individually decorated and make you feel as though you are staying in a private home. Our room was quite large and very comfortable and we were fortunate enough to have air conditioning for an unusually very warm weekend. Others were not so lucky. Breakfast was a disaster though. How you can ruin pancakes and eggs is beyond me but they managed it and it took 50 minutes to accomplish this and we were the early group. Others that came after us had to wait up to 90 minutes for their breakfast and again it was less than satisfactory. A couple of things you should be aware of, there is no elevator if that is an issue for you and there is no on site parking, it is along the street as you can find it. I have mixed feelings about my stay, while I thought is quite charming, it failed in other areas. I might look for somewhere else next time.

“There are better places.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

If you like old fashioned, yesteryear like places, you will like this. it reminded us of a nursing home facility, and we are not ready for that yet, if not ever. The food was bland- they need to 'kick it up a notch.' Too may othr places with good views.
